XXtreme tow/tandem attachment

Over the summer, I received the tandem setup from Ozzy and Ruud at XXtreme. I've worried for years about how to create a stable and secure tandem setup but I worry no more. This gear is just like you would expect from XXtreme. Well thought out, well designed, and perfectly executed in manufacture.

Linky to towbar

There is a clamp that mounts onto the rear axle of the tow buggy with a pivoting arm about 3 inches long that can be secured against the axle when not in use. It would fit many axle diameters I imagine but fits the Apexx perfectly. A hoop threads into this which then attaches to the forks of the buggy to be towed. I got lucky and the small hoop seems to have been made to fit the PTW Hero. I'm not sure if Popeye adhered to some standard of barrow fork width or if it was coincidence (I'm leaning towards this being by design on Popeye's end). On the ends are some really slick clips for attaching to the forks that are easy to attach without tools but are very strong as well.

I haven't pulled the buggy yet but have hooked everything up in the garage and I could not be more pleased and amazed at how nicely it all goes together. As a bonus, it comes with a towbar handle for pulling the buggy from the car to the launch area. This part isn't so important to me for riding at Ivanpah since I don't have to take the buggy anywhere from where I park the car. Someday it will be handy for going over the dunes to one of my favorite beaches.

Danger- have you mentioned your concerns to anyone on the Apexx team? I doubt this forum is the best way to pass them a message....

I read your whole post trying to figure out how it applied to the tow bar. But turns out you just used the thread to veer off into a rant. At least you mentioned it at the end. Thanks for that!

The clamps are also available in stainless steel like the pullbar itself...

I assumed the whole kit was stainless. Nothing much rusts in Vegas though.

How much does one of these cost in stainless or regular? Seems to be a cool design for sure.

I don't have my price list on the iPad. I'm out of town. Seems like $75-100 though. Worth double the price for all the thought I've given this.

Only the clamps; normal one $1 or $2, in stainless steel version $3 or $4 something, here in Holland....
