kite for my hubby

hi everyone

after reading alot of the forum, im still really stuck as to what kite o buy. my hubby is turning 30 soon and really wanys to get into power kiting and eventually getting a buggy. i cant decide what kite to get but think i have narrowed it down to a buster11 or a pepper both in the 3m range. i dont want to spend a fortune and then he decides its not for him but i dont want to buy one he outgrows too quickly. he is 5,5 and 10 stone. any help with this would be really appreciated as im trying to keep it a surprise for him:spin:
thanks

Hi Jinty,

Here's what I wrote following my wife buying a kite for me in a similar situation.

Id say go with the pepper 3.5 only because i have had mine for quite some time and its taken the beatting of rough winds and slams into the ground and it still flys like brand new ..... just a well made kite...

Buster II is an amazing kite, well designed, well behaved, handles poor, gusty wind no problem, only thing is, there's only 1 in north america at the moment and it's destined to tour the shops so the kitestores can get a look at what will be released in north america in the next couple months.

In the mean time, there's still some buster I's kicking around which are also pretty good starter kites, I still use some Buster I's in the buggy.

The Peter Lynn kites are pretty good as well, I've tried a couple of them and found them up to the task, I've also heard good things about the Beamers.

If you don't mind spending the $$$, the Flexifiol Bullets are a great kite as well for the buggy, and now that the new flexi line is out, you could probably find a Bullet for a reasonable price.

Avoid agressive kites like the Bullet for a first kite though, you want him to make it to be 31. They're great kites, but not suitable to learn on.

For size, I'd go with a 3m, Nice sized kite, doesn't need stupid high wind to fly, Sure it'll need some wind to buggy with, but down the road you're set up to get a 5.5m kite, then use the 3m as a high wind buggy kite. The 3m's are also well suited for kiters wifes to mess around with when the wind's good for hubby to buggy with on the 5.5m

Ahh, my bad, I keep missing the lil uk flag on some of the members tags, We usually get things a couple months later than you guys do.

The buster II is a brilliant beginner kite, Makes learning fairly easy and it should be good enough to take him into the intermediate stages.
