Power Kiting & Fitness

I was wondering about the effect of fitness with regular power kiting.

Is it a sport that will also build up muscles in the arms, chest and shoulders?

Yes indeed, it will work out your arm muscles, and your legs

Depending on how strong the wind is....

(your not going to look like a ripped bodybuilder who pumps 500# all day long, but it will tone your arms and legs)

Newbies at first will take some time getting use to the controls and power use a lot of physic.... latter on more technique and less of the 1st

learn kite control by not trying to muscle the wing, but by finessing it ....

It's alway good to stretch out before a session of powerkiting especially if its cold out.... the upper torso, neck, rotator cups and lower back...

The best effect and fitness from powerkiting is food for the soul

I believe Static flying on the beach without a harness to be the best work out.. Fighting the sand works the legs in both muscle and quick twitch fibers( reacting to getting jerked)..Stomach and back get it by doing long pulls through the window, sorta like rowing a boat . . When I fly my Samurai (pulling kite) my lats and back-arms get Pumped..When I fly the Blade it directs everything Up into my shoulders.
I think it is what You put into it. Fly hard and static for an hour and watch the improvements.
Of course all is just My opinion :singing:

I was always told muscle twitching was when you don't have muscle in that place and your body isn't sure which muscle to use.

You should try yoga..i did it for about half a year. Gives your body good stamina and you won't pull muscles..and try back twists if your back hurts

quick twitch fibers are the reaction muscles. Like in the old days with football drills "explosive movements" the coach would yell..lol ..You can train weights forever, but till your Reacting to another persons moves like a football or basketball game you dont get those quick twitch trained..Thats why there are so many injuries when people get out and start playing..lol.. They thought they were in shape till they got a move put on them and they pull muscles they forgot they had..the quick twitch fibers.

Muscle twitching could be caused by that or major fatigue too.. but its different then the muscle fiber Im talking about..:tumble:

I got out for my first time in decent winds, 15-20 mph, with my 3.5m Pepper and handles (no harness). Over about 2.5 hours I probably got about 1 hour on the handles, and the next day I was sore. I used to do alot of weight training, and the closest thing I can compare the soreness too was the day after the first time back to the gym for a full body workout.

My legs and butt felt like I'd been doing squats, my back and arms felt like I'd been doing a serious lat workout, alot of rows. My abs, chest and bi-ceps even felt a little worked, plus great cardio, awesome :) I even had soreness in the little muscles in the back of my kneck, and the top of my feet, and shin splints .....

It was a great way to find out just how out of shape I am :)

I hope I can get out 2-3 days a week, seems like a fun way to get in shape.
