Actually Ken you have to take heed as to which hemisphere you are in. If you wrap your line clockwise, and unwrap counter clockwise in the southern
hemisphere all you have done is created a giant knot.
This is why all of you should cover your handles in socks and figure eight your lines. Northern, Southern hemisphere gravitational pull does not
affect figure eight line wrapping.
Next I will be talking about the proper way to make an aluminum foil hat. :shocked2:

Anyone who is found winding their lines on clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere will be fined! The same as you will be fined for holding anything red
in the right hand.
Without rules there would be a complete break down of society. It would all become like New Zealand.

hey BR, wrapping your lines in a figure 8 must be Canadian - half clockwise, half anti-clockwise - just to be fair. We start going forward, then
reverse direction and reverse again.

You Australians and your damn rules. I will wind my lines any way I want to. :ticking:
Which way is clockwise? I hold my handles parallel to the ground when I wind. I go away from me over the handles, and back towards me under the
handles. :wee:

I just read about 92% of these posts and feel like I have to join a safety committee somewhere. I don't get the whole line winding thing...These
things cost XXX amount of dollars and last XXX amount of years...It seems that the amount of smiles on my face, the times I have spent on beaches and
fields, flying solo or hanging with kiting friends... far exceed the dollar amount to how I wind my lines. As long as they unwind the way I winded
them up and my kite is flying in 3 or 4 minutes....its all good! :bigok:

I do not use the figure 8 on my handles and just wrapping one end is pretty common here.
I have made the mistake of loaning my kite and them starting off anticlockwise long ago. Ruined a session dealing with the tangles. 1 missed snowkite
day per year is awfull since I only tend to get 1/2 dozen in.
+ YES , I was setting myself up for a teasing and knew folks got it with " wax on wax off ! :tumble:

Actually, it's a common misconception that the hemispherically-induced Coriolis effect determines the best way to wind your lines. The truth, in fact,
is that winding your lines at all is an abomination in the eyes of the wind (heh) gods.
So, the proper way to pack your lines is with a clockwise wrist-twist parapack using your right hand to feed and your left hand to stuff. If you are
left handed, you simply do the same thing whilst standing on your head, or running really fast backwards.
I'm a physicist so I know these types of things.
You're welcome.
