Replacing the fork on an old PL Comp buggy

I have an original PL Comp buggy with a dying fork. It's too beat up to fix the cracks so I need a replacement. Pics of what I have can be found at https://plus.google.com/photos/116935021710436287021/albums/...

The modern ST forks appear to be much better made. THe top one in this photo seems to be what I need:

Can it replace what I have without modification to the headset?

Does anyone have used forks that could replace this?

Philip

I fly: Charger II 6.5m * Charger II 8m * Charger II 10m * Scorpion 10 (for sale) * Phantom II 12m * F-Arc 1200 * Venom 13m

I ride: Peter Lynn XR+ on Midis * Flexifoil Midi/Barrow * Peter Lynn Comp on Barrows * Peter Lynn XR+ (needs a fork)

I build: Custom bars for buggy pilots

I write about kite stuff: at http://philipbchase.com

3.5" of space on an XR+ fork...

Yours looks like 8.5mm - bit smaller

I'm sure you could use an XR+ fork and a washer to take up the space...

If you can send me the dimensions of your current fork, I may be able to get you fixed up. The Peter Lynn ST buggy is probably the fork you are looking for. The XR+ and bigfoot XR+ will be to large. You could probably retro-fit the larger forks to your ST, but it would take a bit of modification. The two things that would be different would be the distance between the top of the fork and the brace on the bottom of the downtube and the size of the downtube bolt. On the ST, I think it uses a 10mm bolt, on the XR+ I think the bolt is a 12mm.

Front axle would be the same for all forks and would work regardless.

Shoot me over the distance between the top of the fork and the top of the downtube brace. If it is still the same as the current ST buggy, I have those in stock.

Just for reference in the picture above.

First fork = Comp ST buggy
Middle fork = Comp XR+ buggy
Bottom fork = Bigfoot XR+ buggy

All of these forks are still being produced today.

I would get the modern ST fork. it will fit a bit tight but you can spread it a bit or a lot by grabbing both sides of the fork at the axle hole and pull away from each other. You wont need much if any.
