Sandy took our local riding spot here on the Jersey Shore

Haven't been on PKF since before Hurricane Sandy. Good to be back. Things are getting back to normal besides driving around and seeing all the destruction.
Our local spot, Sandy Hook, will not be open until next spring or later from the damage caused by Sandy. Stopped by the Entrance/Ranger Station last week to see if we could offer help with cleanup. They said the electric and sewer infrastucture was devestated by the storm. At least 6 months to restore, THEN they will start cleanup. He said check back in April to offer help.

The town of Sea Bright 2 miles to the South looks like a war zone and it will take months of restoration and rebuilding before folks can start moving back to their homes and stores rebuild and open again. I have friends with homes there. EVERY home and business was flooded and damaged by the storm surge. Surge was 13' over mean tide with record breaking 30+ foot waves pounding the shore.
Donovan's Bar, a favorite bar/restaurant, is completly gone along with many homes. Boats scattered all over the town and shoreline. They cleared the roads and opened the town to residents and contractors last week. The mountains of sand and debris is unbelievable. Sea Bright is just one town along the shore with countless others torn apart by Sandy up and down the coast. Sad.

All the videos below are in our county. We live 3 miles inland of Belmar which is seen in the last 2 videos . We lost 4 large trees in the yard and had no power for 12 days. Got off easy.

Friends in Sea Bright, cousins that lived on LBI forever but recently moved inland - to Manahawkin. My Brother's house was trashed by the first perfect storm and wasn't re-built til after the movie came out. This time it flooded 4' up the walls :eekdrull:

Global warming, what global warming? Glad you're ok
