13m Venom vs. 12m Synergy

What is the wind range differance between the venom 13m and the synergy 12m? The arc calculator says the synergy has 5-6mph less top end than the venom, so it would be equal to a 16m venom. After reading some posts on hear it sounds like the venom 13m is equal to the 15m synergy. That would mean the synergy 12m synergy would be equal to about a 10m venom not the 16m? I am thinking about getting a 12m synergy to be my high wind kite(20mph to less than 30mph). Any thing over 30mph and I won't bother going out as our winds are way to gusty.

I don't have venom experience.

My 15m Syn will take me ( 150lbs ) comfortably into the mid 20's with smooth winds. I think the 12m Syn could take you out to 30 but that would be claen wind or 30mph gusts. I use a 10m syn for those winds.

12m Syn was my goto highwind kite on snow. 40mph+ and she was "manageable" but not without a lot of work obviously. The 12m Syn is what got me into 73.5mph on surface conditions that should have kept me way slower. In 40+ she really hauls the mail.:D

13m Venom has a higher projected area so she has more grunt. When I went from Venom2's to Syns my size of choice went from 13m to 15m. 15m Syn, Charger1, and Phantom 2 are all roughly the same power range.

Another example is the 19m Venom. She has way more grunt than the 19m Syn, CH1. But, the low end on the VPC equipped kites is pretty close, especially because you can sine them fairly fast. So with some work and technique you have broader wind range than the older bigger PA kites in my expirience.

That 12m Charger is a hoot.

the 12m charger has the biggest wind range of any kite I have ever flown. Got me moving on a grassy surface in 12mph (180 pound rider) and I had it out in winds up to 40mph. thats a wicked range!

Hows $250 RTF sound? ;-)

In all seriousness, thats about my max I can spent on a kite right now. I can't wait till I get a job. $200 a week and no living expenses to pay :singing:. Then I will be able to afford some newer kites. How much would a synergy KO in ok condition be worth? I weight 120lb and about 135lb with my gear and board.

I paid $350 for my 12m Synergy, but that was RTF. I'm not sure what they're going for KO. There's one up on Ebay right now (not mine) that might be worth keeping an eye on:

With all those repairs that one should go pretty cheap ? 8 and he only shows a few ? The do look like good repairs. Selling KO should also help keep the interest down.

A am a big fan of the Syn and that colour scheme. With the VPS and all I think they are closer to the new Phantom than the Phantom ?

Keep an eye on this one. It could be a good kite for somebody on a budget ?
