This could save your life

I'm not sure if it's better to do some kiteloops or just hang on and use the kite as a parachute. What do you guys think?

Gotta keep the kite moving overhead from what I understand. I'd imagine the kite loop would give an added thrust of power so when you brought the kite back overhead it would be like a surge of float. But I think that for most without experience it would be wiser to do constant redirects from 2-10 O'clock above your head. More controlled than kite loop IMO. Can't wait to hear what some of the more experience big air gliders on here have to say.

Shaggs, I agree that multiple redirects seems like it would be safer. Heli-looping may work well, but you have the same lack of control you have with a kite loop. A kite loop is more of a trick than a way to save yourself. It also takes a large amount of skill to execute properly. It seems like a good way to lose some height, but won't letting out the bar do the same thing? When I jump with my venom, if I let out the bar at the top of the jump and pull it in right before I land, I float for a second before I land.

I think we have post with this video last year ....
... I think this is the method you want to use if you have been lifted and wind conditions are keeping you gaining hight .... You traveling downwind all this time and you may not have enough space to wait to come down with kite above you head ,,,, 1 kite loop takes seconds and you down 20-30 feet .... how long you will float with kite above to do same ?? Below is video of endless hang time ... They not that high but imagine accidentally finding you self in same situation in open space ...

I think the heli-loops are to soften the landing...?

When I got a little lofting on the 21, I ended up flying down backwards. Landing was fine but that was on water and I wasn't up THAT high!

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

Wait, like when you were up you spun around facing the worng way?

That's happend to me on the 19V2 while I was going upwind on what turned into a high wind day. Kite straight over head generated lift, picked me up very smoothly but when I left the ice the lines starighted out and I was flying backwards.

Slowed down, landed smooth. Felt wild.
