Trainer Kite Lines: How short is too short?

Okay here's the deal:

I want to use my skateboard and tainer kite to muck around in some parking lots, but they all have lamp posts EVERYWHERE! I am thinking about trying the 3.5 Hydra with no lines (kite directly to the leader lines). My big concerns are: it will be too short to control, my body will make a wind-shadow and kill power or that the safety won't work.:puzzled:

Has anyone seen or tried this flight technique?

I have seen a video somewhere of a dude skateboarding with a NASA foil and a cool looking four way bar so he could control the thing with one hand. I will look for it...

If this works, I will post pics or vid. If it doesn't I will never mention this again :P

Okay I stand corrected. It looks like only two lines are in play here... Even better! :wee:

That's great! I'm stoked to go try it. Lucky the city never gets much snow this time of year, so as soon as we get some wind I will try it out.
I am going through withdrawal tbh:crazy:

Direct connection to your bar works pretty well with most trainerkites, but if you can get lines of 4 to 7m it's even better.
having at least a few meters of line gives you more winds to play with, no lines at all limits the kites windrange a bit.

Added side effect of short lines or no lines is that its quite safe, as you can kill the power much quicker.

Have fun! kite long/skate boarding is awesome, no more pushing/pumping :-)
