Eyewear??
While I'm on my quest to GEAR UP properly, a curious thought hit me...what's everyone wearing for eye protection (UV/Sun/and Safety) while
riding/bugying.
I've been eyeballing (pun intented) a couple versions of foam-rimmed goggles (almost like mini ski goggles)...tactical goggles.
Would love to hear what your riding with and what you love about em...

Um,... Nothin special
I have prescription glasses I ALWAYS wear, and sometimes some clip on sunglasses I got at the grocery store (if I can find them).
Should I be wearing something more substantial?
I've never given that any consideration.

My wife worked as an ophthalmic tech for 5 years. I do not go outside without eye protection. The sun is hard on your eyes and damage can easily be
permanent if you take a strike from....well anything. It is just not something to mess around with.
Make sure whatever you end up getting is ANSI rated to take a hit. All military and law enforcement Oakleys are designed to not just cover your eyes
but armor them. I highly recommend them as they have protected my eyes more then once.
Yes I am a little paranoid....just heard all the stories from the wife!

You can also look to the motorcycle shops for glasses of all types. Lots of options available, they even make the foam rimmed glasses specifically to
keep wind out from the inside of them. A couple of the harley shops around here carry lots of those.

I got a piece of plastic into the eye just before a trip to Hawaii and the doctor wouldn't let me SCUBA Dive because of it, and the glasses I was
wearing was covering the eye except for the the spot just beside the nose and the nose pad of the glasses. Got some rather strange looks from the
people in the airport going through security.

I suggest (if you'r looking for prescription) going to www.zennioptics.com I got a great pair of prescription goggles there and there about $40.00 I have been using them for 2 years and still good. We
also get all our family glasses there for $15-30 a pair.

I always wear either my Oakley M Frames with good eye coverage or my Recon goggles. The goggles aren't for hot weather so they are cool months only.
Luckily, that's when our big winds blow. It's awesome to have the speed readout right in the corner of the goggles.

Bob, looked up those RECON goggles...OMG!! How cool would it be to see speed/GPS data/HUD while riding...
If would have seen them earlier I could have "Hinted" to the wife about Xmas present...
I think you guys are right on track with the vented motorcycle goggles...those Amphibians look cool too...something between standard sunglasses and
full face.
Dirtslide - get someone to video you with that helmet...very "Speed Racer" looking...just needs a HUD too...
Great inputs...ROCK ON!!

Without the HUD I typically can't get a speed readout till I stop and wipe the dust from the GPS. And sometimes the sunlight can prevent being able
to see the LCD during a run if I rewipe the GPS. It's a geeky thing but has a genuine benefit too. You can share the tracks as well. So others can
actually watch your path with speed updates.

I recently picked up some Rudy projects with amazing optical properties.
The polarizing is such that they do not block LED displays
They photo grey from 20% light blockage to 80% and react even when inside a car. Mostmodern cars have polarizing in the glass which prevents the
photo grey from "reacting". This is great for variable light conditions up to and including nighttime for glare/ starring of of light sources.
Active sport shapped so they block a lot of wind. Not as much as full on goggles but they breath a lot better .
As you can imagine not cheap but worth it when you wear them most every day.

Not sure why... but these prices for prescription glasses/sunglasses seem super low. Some add-ons bring price up a bit more.....but still..
They have clip-on shades that match shape with lens too.... a perfect fit combo! Awesome:o
May try a spare pair or my next pair from this place.
Anyone else besides Dave use this place?
