I'll bet you can't find a place that rents them. No one does. The insurance would be ridiculous. What is your experience level?

Yeah..experience

Folks in this group ARE friendly and often generous-but there are steps....... for safety and ettiquite.

Get taught kite skills first . Spend many days just static flying where others go...meet other fliers who also buggy over many days

... When maybe they see you can handle ,you ask if you can sit in their buggy with it. You get a little taste. Then you have to buy your own.

Rentals? Never. If you think you can come visit a place and rent a buggy for a sport you have no experience in..then you have no knowledge of danger either. If you DO have experience..you still don't know enough that no one rents.

Let us know the date and place. I know of a few that would be happy to help out.
I personally have a teaching tool that can have you in the buggy and kiteing down the beach in about 2 hours, give or take depending on how fast or slow you pick up the sport.

It's true that nobody rents buggies.

Will you be able to go to Seaside ? If so there is a good chance that you can get somebody to meet up with you there.

I find it confusing. You are only looking to rent buggies and that leads me to think you already know how to fly and have kites? Yet it's pretty common knowledge that you can't rent buggies.

To quote a dude from just north of there " are you experienced ? "

I would venture to guess that the person asking probably has minimal experience... like just a month or so of flight time.

I only base my guess on my own experience, because I remember sending an email and asking Angus the same question. Before I joined this forum I found Kiting and had been into it for a month or two when I started to think about our annual family trip to the GA coast, and I thought "somebody must rent those things,... I've got a kite, I should try that out,..."

Long and short Angus gave me all the same answers you guys gave above, I joined PKF as a result of Angus's recommendation and the rest is history,...

So, NO you can't rent one, but hook up with Big Kid and he'll get you rolling!!!

I'm going to take a nap now

Just for general info:

You can rent a buggy at Camber Sands in the UK. There is a kitesurf school there and they seem to rent buggies and kites to people. Reasonably inexperienced people from some of the ones I've seen.

Of course, all the posts above are still correct in that it would be pretty dangerous and frustrating to rent a kite and buggy with no experience or instruction.

Have you thought about taking a lesson?

Please don't be discouraged.
We are just trying to figure out your experience and how to help you out.
The underlying message here is that with a bit of planning you can meet up with somebody who will be happy to introduce you to buggies. Seaside is the most likely place to arrange a meet up.

Your all correct about renting a buggy, I get calls all the time. Most of them are Washington State residents that cant understand the stupid law we are trying to change.....
You can rent a Blokart, but not a kitebuggy. A Blokart is very user friendly and with 5 minutes of instruction a beginner is off and running.
If you have 4-line kite skills, and you can fly the kite with your eyes closed(we put a baseball cap on you with the bill pulled down over your eyes to be sure) we will teach you with a special set of tools to speed the learning and if you pick things up quickly you can be bugging in about an hour.
You do have to sign a wavier for the Blokart rental along with a D/L and CC to keep on file.
The kitebuggy is the same. The only difference is that the cost of the Blokart rental is a bit more than the kitebuggy. We also send you out with a 2-way radio to help in any problems that may come up, for a bit more $$.

This is all possible on most of the Oregon Coast with a bit of advanced warning, because there is NOT a store to stop by, but a couple of people who will show up and help make the event happen so we need to be there also.

Hope that makes it easier to make it happen for you, if any you have any questions, you can ask here or by u2u or email or phone, skype, yell really loud or poke one of us in the arm.
