2013 Pre-Event
Hey Sailors,
I am serious about going to Red Lake in Arizona this time rather than Harpers (if the weather holds out).
Fran sent me some great recent photos from Red Lake.
I don't know how to post them here, but you can glimpse them on Facebook at the Horny Naked Buggy Chicks page.
I have more than the 4 I put up, but these are the best.
Let me know what you think...

We are all basically running the same directions. Depends on how well the wind direction lines up with the lakebed. You can hammer down in a half
mile. I hope to get to come spend a day there with you guys, but that's icing on the cake for me to get the whole nabx event. I might just go try
this place out next chance I get to fly. It's only 20 minutes further than Ivanpah for me it looks like.

Sure will. I'll post up my intentions. It's always better to have someone to chase around and ride beside.

I'm all for it, but will some still go to the location listed on the nabx site? If Red lake is where we are going, lets tell the powers at be (if
there are such).

I now understand why you were recommending Red Lake.
I looked up Red Lake, AZ on google maps. It showed me a very small lake (that appears 1/2 full of water) right on the NM/AZ border. I looked at it
and said "Wow, my backyard is bigger than that!" However, I figured that you knew what you were doing.
A person at work recommended using Bing Maps for another reason. I was bored and put in "Red Lake, AZ". Low and behold it shows a vast expanse that
is worthy of our buggies.
I cannot be the only one that saw the wrong Red Lake...can I?
This makes sense now. Bring on the pre-event. Any issue camping in the area (i.e. on the lake??)

Nope, no problem camping. It's "Checkerboard Land", part State Trust, part privately held, part BLM trust. Same rules as always, leave no trace, pack
it in, pack it out, if it ain't yours, pick it up anyway, mind the cigarette butts and puppy bombs.

Sorry, late to the party but not to the dance.
Everyone may go where ever they like. Just want to state that many of us that go(and started this whole thing)may not be going to Red Lake.
Nothing is finalized.
It will not be until probably the week before, and maybe not even then.
Conditions, folks travel time, the weather, etc. play a huge factor.
Craig Sparkes and i descend on Vegas the 27th of March.
We will have a phone # on the web site(both of them).
This number will have a recording and it will say where we are.
As always, anyone wishing to join us is welcome.
YMMV

I will be coming from Texas so looks like it would be doable for me. Best route seems to be to take 93 north once I get to Phoenix?
Do we need permits or anything like that? I already got my permit for Ivanpah since I will be there but not part of NABX. I also heard that NABX is
not going to be a sanctioned event this year but just a gathering ?
