Cabrinha omega 12m Kite opinions?
Ok, so I may have found a screaming deal on a cabrinha omega 12m kite that I'm feeling like is to good to pass up. It needs lines, but otherwise works
perfectly (supposedly). Does anybody have any opinions on this kite? Is it worth it? How much are lines going to cost? I have a 10m ozone access2 that
I'm psyched on and by my calculations the 12m would be good for a bit lower wind conditions or for powering me up a bit more. I've mostly been
snowkiting on lakebeds in 10-15 mph winds... Please let me know your thoughts and happy kiting!

It'll be a screaming deal cos it's ancient. Pulley bar too, no? You might get away with it on land though...
Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

If you have to pay more to get it flying after you buy it, it's not a screaming deal.
If you have a 10 in order to prevent major wind range overlap you might want to look at at 13-14.
Omega is not a bad kite, but getting a little old now.
Tide? What's a tide? Man, it's 1000 miles to any ocean.

If you're only land kiting, there are a number of good deals currently going on now here on PKF.
This is an older kite with a pulley bar and a pre 2007 year safety configuration. It might have leaky bladders, bad valves, and ripstop dry rot.
A few hundred dollars in new lines and suddenly your screaming deal ain't looking so good.
Check around the For Sale forum and post some Wanted listings. I think that you will be surprised at what comes up.

There are some brand new Cabrinha bars with lines that would fit the Omega for $100-$150 on Ebay right now:
http://tinyurl.com/b7oj7ep
You could save a few bucks trying to bid instead of using buy it now.
On those bars, you can change between pulley and non-pulley mode, too.
I would go for one of the 50cm bars.

You'll pay $150+ for a new set of lines unless you buy bulk spectra and make them yourself.
The Cabrinha 2n1 bar setup on Ebay is a good deal - be sure to get a leash if you don't have one. I use those bars with my older Cab bows and think
the safety system works just fine. Many don't like the above the bar depower. I don't mind it, and I like not having the depower line hanging down
close to my body. Personally I like a 55cm bar with my 12m Xbow.
The Omega will need the pulley bar set-up. A 12m bow/SLE is going to be pretty close to your 10m Access. I agree with going to 13m-14m if you want
more range and need it to work in lighter winds.

Hey
I agree with Krumly it will have the same wind range as your 10 meter foil or really close to it. A guy I kite with had one and while not a bad kite
it wasn't to good on the low end. Other 12 meter kites (Cabrhina Switchblade) had a lot more pull on the low end. On the plus side it's a very easy
kite to fly and very stable when its in the proper wind range. I believe my friends was an 08.
Hope that helps
