Single Line Kite for Kids

I am looking for a large single line kite that my kids will like to see in the air. I currently have a cheap octopus kite (it looks more like a squid) and a whale kite (that doesn't like to stay in the air). I would like a really big animal kite for them to enjoy.

I'd also like a small kite for my 3 year old to hold. I know that I can buy a cheap little kite at almost any store, but if one of you have a good quality one, I'd be willing to buy it from you.

If you don't have either but want to make a suggestion, please do.

Thanks,

Jason

Hey Jason

First off are you from Lafayette.

I make a small single line sled kite that is ready to fly that might be good for your 3 year old. It measures 20x30 inches. Below is a picture. I make much larger kites but none like animals.

Susan,

Yes, I went to university there. I've even been to your house so you could repair a kite of mine. I still look back fondly on those days where we would all buggy in the Cajun Field parking lot.

I am interested in the small kite. How much is it? I will be driving through Lafayette around March 1.

Thanks,

Jason

I love this place, they have a little bit of everything,...

I teach a kite making class to the older kids in my girls' homeschool group, and buy most of my supplies from them, and I've bought a bunch of my single line kites here too... Good luck!!!

I'm going to take a nap now

Hey! That's my local excuse for a kite shop. :) They absolutely have a great single-line selection and a bunch of stunt kites. Their foil selection isn't as good. They primarily only carry 2 line foils and 3-5m Beamers... and Prisms, I think. I did buy an HQ stunt kite, a Symphony 1.4 and an ITW bulldog 1.7 from them, and they're all fantastic.

Also, I have an almost 3 year old and he is OBSESSED with this Elmo kite video:

I have a single line dragon kite, a diamond "horse" kite and he is only moderately interested in either. Well, that and he runs downwind when it starts flying because kids are dumb :)

Anyway, I'm going to make an Elmo kite next week with my shoddy sewing skills. The results will be comical and I vow to share them with you all (especially susan) :). If I actually document plans, I'll certainly share them with you.
