I dunno about between, but if you are in Stowe you are near Burlington and could go out on Lake Champlain if the conditions are right (where they used to hold the Kitestorm event). I don't know what the snow/ice conditions are like right now. Haven't been up there since the last Kitestorm.

Sandbar State Park. 89 N take Exit 17 to rt2 west.

Current surface conditions are grey boiler plate as of the other day. That may change by the time you get up as they have some snow in the forecast.

Have fun!

Sand Bar State park is former home of Kitestorm.

..... One hour north of Stowe. Biggest frozen play area you will find.

Someone ought to organize a festival again up there.

A big distance between Mt. Snow and Stowe:o

Watch out for thin ice. Temperature increase slowly... last week-end up here Canada-Québec on lake 2 mountains near indian reserve a guy pass across the ice... lucky for him to be able to get off the water before hypothermia / drowning.

There was a fatality on Mephramagog the other day. Guy went in while pulling his ice fishing hut off the ice. This is just north of Champlain.

Some of the lakes near North Conway are out of play. Keep in mind anything that was late to freeze will be early to go thin.

if you don't see sled tracks or bob houses on the ice there's a good reason for it.

At least if you go through at Sandbar, the water isn't too deep - we were swimming there a couple of years ago and I was able to walk straight out from the beach for about 130 yards on my tip toes (I'm 5' 8") ;-)
