I think most companies tough up theirs kites lately ... as many times I hear before Best was using cheap materials when entering LEI market .... all I hear now its how good they get after all those years ... Its same when you look at kiteboards .... Those are getting way more reinforcement then few years ago ...
... Obviously .... you will find many cases where kite or board will brake after impact ... and sometimes it looks like it dose not take much to do it .... but I think its getting better each year and thats why kiteboarding companies are ruining into financial problems .... people use kites for longer time without need of replacing them ... more companies popping up around the word with new kite models and better prices when cost of production is going up and its harder every year to get new clients .....
... Foil kites have totally different story ... Its harder to damage those and we see many 2005 kites in perfect condition after years of use ... and instead of making those bombproof companies are challenging them self to make those weight less to get better performance from smaller sizes ..... and ... making them more delicate on the way ....

I'd say I have to agree with Kober on the foils becomeing more delicate. My guerilla's fabric feels thicker than my venom's. The guerillas also have dacron tips to prevent wear. I've never heard of a guerilla bursting a cell but I have heard of alot of burst cells on venoms.

Could be a by-product of popularity. I think a lot more people that had Venoms than Guerillas and those that had the Guerillas first, didn't fly them as aggressively as the Venoms.

Ocean Rodeo have been building there kites to stand up to or rocky beaches here in Canada since the start. They do similar testing but on much rougher surfaces.

No disrespect but that was a pretty sugary surface they chose to pound ?

Looked like Flysurfer was testing their blow-out valves on concrete/tarmac.

Tying yourself to a fixed object while kiting = worst idea EVER!:flaming:

Relax guys, it was a nice low wind day (5mph-8mph) in the park on a big floaty kite using a short non elastic truck tow rope with people who know what they are doing. Please watch the video again and stop over reacting.

I appreciate that dude, but nothing we do is safe. Same with kite buggying but isn't that half the appeal? It just seems a little hypocritical and I get the sense that people disapprove out of ignorance or because their peers say so rather than them having a thought of their own.

I'm not some rogue guy off YouTube. You guys know who I am and I was hoping that I was in good enough company that I could share something with you that I've been doing since the 90's. This is not something I've just discovered.

I know how you can feel surprisingly safe while doing stupid things, especially when you have experience in them. (No matter kiting related or -not) I'm just allergic to all those videos showing kite jumps with a rope. Sure, you can do it in a "safe" way but the main problem is, that they really motivate people to try it out themselves...
I've seen people with half inflated 20qm '2000 kites bought off fleabay trying to do it in 30mph winds. Luckily they didn't manage to launch the kite. They sure managed to scare the s... out of the other kiters, though.:sniff:
