Turn a kite into a hammock?

Hhhhmmm? Thinking of turning one of my unusable kites into a hammock-

Think it will support 200lbs?

What a fine fitting end to a kites life......stuck in a Tree!!!!

Biggest weaknesses are probably going to be:
  • Abrasion resistance
  • If the coating is still intact, probably going to be less than perfect from a sweat/heat dissipation viewpoint.
  • It will probably support 200lbs, but any minor local damage might lead to a fast cascade failure. Most traditional hammocks have a tendency to isolate damage.

ATB,
Sam

I would think that the stitching might be an issue over time.

kite into a hammock.

The buty of hammocks is that a breeze can pass through the fabric. Lying on nylon in the sun will make you sweat a lot.

Good points. How did I know Sam was going to throw stats like flash points and thermal breakdown into the mix!

Well the Pansh has to be good for something.......grins......maybe as a sun-cover then for sipping lemonade with the kite suspended overhead........

I have 3 kites that became truck covers, and only 1 that didnt make it back to flying. Often have the neighbors ask about the fancy truck cover and if I will have any more soon. I think they would like to have one for themselves.:D
