I like to ride everything ! They all offer something just a bit different.

When I visited your area I found the sand a bit soft for ATB and even more so, Coyotes.

Given the opportunity to ride anything I wanted I borrowed a buggy. It seemed best suited to the beach.

Land board for big air and lots of body balance but can be hard on the knees. Kite buggy for speed or just kicking back and cruising. There really isn't a better than ,more like what the pilot prefers at that time .I used to ride my board until I was to tired to hang on and then change up to the buggy for some three wheel fun.

I have ridden buggy a few times. And the buggy is a great ride. The board IMHO is a little more difficult to get on and ride unless you are on a very flat surface and a four line kite with a handle set up. Especially if you are just learning. I live about 2 blocks from OBEE field, and the field has a crown. There is no where on this field that doesn't have some bumps you will feel on a board. But the buggy can be much smoother of a ride because of the larger tires.

Buggies are a little more expensive, but easier to just sit down as opposed to standing and maintaining your balance too.

Of course everyone has their own opinions. It's also my opinion handles on a kite are MUCH better for either boarding or buggying in the beginning stages...

Being you are so close to one of the best riding spots around (in the off season of course) the buggy and the board will both serve you well. The buggy is much easier to learn for most, the board is a little more difficult to learn, but can be very rewarding.

I prefer my buggy for hours of long runs up and down the beach or here at home on the grass fields. I will often jump on the board here at home if I get bored in the buggy.

Sometime this summer, we have got to catch up with you and get you some time with either. If you can get on the ferry and come to DE, we have several spots within an hour of the ferry to ride when the wind is good!

Keep my number handy and once the 4th of July holiday is over, maybe we can hook up and get you some seat time!

I prefer boarding. My experiences in the buggy, though limited, have all been Fred Flinstone like. Meaning I couldn't figure out how to slow down without putting my feet down or getting ejected. I also couldn't get upwind in the buggy. For me boarding is way easier but as my knees age I think the buggy will become the way to go.

Hey,... New Jersey is nowhere near Jekyll Island
Just kidding all you wildwood fans :)

I'm a buggy fan myself,... I've tried a friend's board, and I just can't get the hang of it and it just doesn't hold my interest. Maybe one day I'll try it more seriously, but I just love to cruise in my seat.

Also like the fact that I can give the kids rides in the tandem rig,... Can't do that on a board.

the fundamental elements are equal except for board balancing skill. speed and piloting are basically the same.

traction power- same. u got to be able to pilot/sail a kite and fundamentally know sailing

surface - wide range for buggy
narrow range for board needs firm smooth surface

mass- higher mass for buggy set up , speed! accelerated mass ...its more of everything
less for board in general (+ lighter gear to haul /store)

@Deant41

My opinion is just that, an opinion.

Since i am also new to this sport (+1yr) I was taught with a Zebra 3.4 (I think) and it was sufficient to pull me around at 175lb on a buggy with big tires. I never had any problem with the power it had, just took my breath from the start, when I realized it wasn't playing around. I had a few OBEs (out of buggy experiences) and wised up pretty quick since I don't like being dragged around by a kite.

The blade 4.9 is a little bigger, but I have not ever had the pleasure of flying one of those kites. Just using a little common sense here would say the 4.9 would be plenty strong enough. As far as TOO much? That IMO would depend on this. How much time have you had at all flying a kite? And can you control one with handles or bar?

IMO a bar is NOT good to use with a buggy, although others may have a different opinion. And handles are KING of controlling a kite from a buggy. Again others may have another opinion.

I do not think the 4.9 is TOO much power, however that will depend on your own talents and ability to control the kite.

A 4.9 Blade will hand you your ass. NOT a kite for the unskilled.

It is very lifty.

Welcome Dean,

You will be best off opening another thread of your own with this question.

The 4.9m Blade has the nickname " the widow maker ". Very lifty kite with limited float. It is a very good kite but far from a beginner model. Respect the heck out of it or it will spank you ! If you are concerned I suggest you buy a less aggressive kite.

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse

Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .
