We recommend lessons first ad formost. If you want to learn though get a 2m-3m trainer kite. Go out in light winds under 15 knots learn to fly your trainer. Learn the wind window and how to launch, land, pack up, and unpack your kite. I would recommend finding someone in your area that flies as well and see if they are willing to help you on your journey. Welcome to PKF and the family.

We are also more land based and I am strictly a land flier but for the ram air foils I recommend
Ozone Flow or Octane, HQ Beamer IV or V, PeterLynn hornet, Panish Flux, and PKD Buster Soulfly. All these kites are rated beginner to intermediate and you won't out grow them to fast. Just remember 2-3 meters and low winds no one on here wants to see your next post say... So dislocated shoulder first time out. If the winds are to high play it safe and don't do it.

Welcome,

Start out by reading the tutorials put together on www.coastalwindsports.com . ost things I would want to say are better said on there.

Carltb on this forum has some very good tutorial videos online for ATB.

As you see we all have a few kites. You need different sized kites for different winds. Also try and understand the difference between Fixed Bridle kites and Depower kites. You will probably prefer a depower kite going forward.

LOTS to learn so I'll leave you with that. This is the place to ask questions. We all started out like you and want to help.

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.

Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .

The best thing you can do with that 2m kite is to take it down to your local kitesurf spot and fly it. Let them see you are interested and have learned " the ropes " with your trainer.

Don't be shy about asking the locals questions. Just be very sensitive about timing. When the wind is up and they are focused on getting the stoke out they will not want to bother with you. Approach them when they have had their session or the winds are too light to head out and they will give you all sorts of time + advice.

You don't give a lot of info on your 2 line but it is no doubt set up as a recreational kite and not as an engine. It will not be ideal for riding on ATB but may work with very strong winds.

Building a board will cost a lot more than buying a used one complete.

Best advice I can give is to take your time and avoid impulse purchases. Folks on here will help you make good choices along the way.

That kite looks like a toy ! Sorry .

Unfortunately you get what you pay for and at least you understand you can waist money. I really think that buying that kite on a low budget is a mistake. It will NOT serve as an engine and will become a bit boring pretty quick. ( oops , I see you already bought it )

I am not suggesting that you ask the local kitesurfers for lessons. I am suggesting you get to know them . Best way is to show up with a decent trainer kite so they know you are serious. THEY will give you tips and probably the line on the best used local gear . What you use on land can be the same as what they use on water.

Hold off and keep asking on here about your purchase before you commit. That is the BEST thing you can do right now. Folks are pretty quick to answer so you shouldn't leave the seller hanging too long.

Ebay is not a very safe place to buy kites if you don't fully understand what you are buying and what to ask ahead of time. Be careful shopping there.

Your local shop owner should be of some help ?

That kite if it does produce power will warp and won't fly for long. That is a cheap knockoff kite we see them time and again. Those kites usually don't even fly well. Sorry to say it but you fell victim to the eBay knockoffs. If you can find a decent used kite is a way to go. Or a last years model that a shop owner is trying to unload. RTZ has some good 4 line trainers for great prices. 100-150$ He may still have 1 left.

Shon, the foil with flames is a fun kite. My wife bought one because it's
"cute". I've flown it and you can do a few tricks with it. Not an engine.
I rigged it to a 36"bar and it's more fun that way. Wifey loves it.

Listen to the guys here on the forum, do your home work, save your money
and get the right equipment. You'll be glad you did.
