4-line beginner Kite (Bought 3m Hornet)
I'm looking for a used 3m kite for a beginner. I'm only 125lbs and my research has led me to the Hornet, Beamer, or Ozone at around the 3m size (the
Hornet seems to be the best choice). But I'm open for equivalent options. Would also like to keep it below $200 and would prefer a seller in the
United States.
Note: I have an offer from a seller already with a 2012 demo Hornet (flown only once or twice) for $200. Was hoping for something for a bit less if
possible.

Yup. At $200 even a used setup is a steal. Grab that Hornet.

+1 On the PKDs
Hi
As MDK noted, the PKD Buster Soulfly is the killer value in 4-line trainer kites. The 2.2 is less than $160 new and the 3.3 is less than $180 new
(and those prices are complete & ready to fly). There are shops represented on this forum which offer free shipping on orders over $100, so it
really can't be beat.
I bring up the 2.2 because of your light weight. I'm 200+ pounds and I still respect my 2.5-3.0 meter kites in the upper end of their windrange
(which is normally rated for an average 175 lb person).
Also, since your looking to snowboard and/or landboard, you might consider kites flown on a bar. Handles can be used for snow and land kiting, but
the vast majority of landboarders and snowboarders use a bar, so consideration should be given to learning on a bar.
Kites to consider include HQ Scouts/Beamer TSRs or three line trainers such as the Peter Lynn Impulse TR or the HQ Rush IV. I personally have a PL
Impulse, and it is a great little kite for learning, and with a d-loop, it would be good for early rides on a board.
Regards and Good Luck

I agree bars are better for boards, but you will be upgrading anyway when you get going on a board and then you could go d-power with a bar. learning
on handles will make you a better flyer. its like learning to drive a car, anyone can drive an automatic (bar) but its better to learn on a stick
(handles). hard to go from bar to handles, easy to go from handles to bar.

I ended up going with a 3M Hornet and also got a 1.5M Beamer V for the higher wind days. Thanks to all!
Note: Kite was purchased from Rich at East Coast Kites. Fantastic service!
