making / scaling bridles

Does anyone know the best way to scale a bridle from one kite to another. For instance, I had my 4.5 yeti fit with a custom bridle last year and love it. My plan has always been to do the 6 over but rather than being without it for a month and paying to have it done again I'm wondering if anyone knows the best way to scale a bridle leg, etc. from one kite to another in the same kite family.

The yeti comes stock with the A/B lines joined and I paid to have them broken out and run separately on a compound mixer. So if the stock A/B joining line is 31" on the 4.5 and 36" on the 6 and the stock A line on the 4.5 is 81cm and on the 6 its 92cm can I just use a proportion to calculate the length of the new B line from what was made on the 4.5 and how it scales to the 6 or do I just go about adding the difference in inches between the corresponding 4.5 and 6m lines.

It doesn't look too hard since I have a stock bridle plan and a customized 4.5 bridle in front of me but is it just a matter of getting the proportions correct or is there more science involved than just that.

often overlooked is the bridle spacing difference. ie the distance between the bridles along a cell proportional to the bridle lengths. that will help scale it all and get you close. double check all your calculations and ratios to known lengths just to be sure , then make your temporary bridle risers with 1cm knots to adjust in and out so when you fly it you can still change the aoa and profile.

if you get overwhelmed i can help out on the 6m again...

If you are willing to do it, I'm glad to pay to have it done. I had the best session ever on my 4.5 this past weekend and think the work you did was amazing. The kite just totally fits my style and feel now and think it is WAY better modified than stock (for me). I know the 4.5 was a bit challenging for you based on how tightly grouped the A/B tabs are and you put way more work into it than you charged me for. How busy are you at the moment and how up for another modification are you? I could take pics and measurements of the 4.5 and create a new bridle pland for you to help aid your mods but its entering prime small kite season for me so I may hold off until the summer but I'd way prefer to pay you to do it than experiment on my own given the bridles aren't the same length and I'd be best guessing it based on the work you did.

i wouldnt be able to get to it till mid december... then christmas, etc. so spring or summer could be good and that time of year has much better testing conditions

it all depends on how long you can live without the 6m. if you can live without it for some time then i can chisel away at it in smaller chunks

if/when we do this again, your lineplan was great and i'd need a lineplan of the modded 4.5 too .

call or email if you'd like to schedule something out.

Thanks john. If it looks like I won't be flying for a while I'll call you. If not, I can wait until the spring.
