Another newbe

I am looking to get my own snow kite equipment can you help?

I have flown my first kite last week, the kite that I flew was a HQ 5.5 meter, I believe it was a 4 line kite (I don’t have all the lingo down yet). I flew in 0-15 mile per hour winds max gust of 20 mph, the kite depower strap was pulled in to depower the kite and we flew the kite with the depower bar extended all the way out away from us. I am female 40+ years in age and about 5" 2" 180 lbs. with gear on (winter clothes & alpine skis) I am guessing about 200 lbs. fully dressed. The kite I used that day in that configuration seemed very controllable and I was comfortable with it.

What equipment should I Get?

Harness options
Mystic Force Shield Seat Harness $199.95 (I don’t know what size I should get XL or XXL, I do need to get this over snow pants but also don’t want it to fall off)
Mystic Aviator Seat Harness $149.95 (once again I don’t know what size to get)

Handle pass Leash

Mystic Handle pass leash White/Blue neoprene $59.95

Kite options

Fly surfer Outlaw snow kite / traction kite 6 meter $1,048.95 (This one looks awsome but is this one just too powerful?)

Ozone power Kite Access 2013 Snow kite 6 meter $1,099 (There is also a 4 meter option that seems too small)

HQ-Kites Apex III 2012 Snow Kite 7.5 meter $749.95

So many kites so little money! Really I'm Broke!
HQ 5.5m, 8m & 11m Apex 4
Ozone Frenzy 11m
Cabrinha Switch Blade 14m & 10m
Cabrinha Stylus 155cm

For snow harness's, most people love the Ozone Access SB harness. Cost is a little less than the Mystic's you have listed and they work exceptionally well over snow outfits. One size fits all - it is fully adjustable so even if you decide to use it in the summer time on a mountain board you are all set.

As for kites, the ones you list are all great kites but you may want to take a quick look on the used kite market. You can probably spend about half that much and get a kite that you won't mind bashing into the ground while you learn. Sure it is used, but normally when people learn they are very hard on their kites and you may even destroy one....better to do it to a used one than a brand new 1000 dollar plus one. Once you get everything dialed in and are no longer in the crashing stage, you can sell it again and purchase something new. Also, you may have a chance to try several other kites during your learning stages and you may find one you like a whole lot better like maybe the Frenzy or even the new Peter Lynn Lynx.

Thanks!!

I am from Minnesota and have been taking classes with certified instructors, so I am trying to keep safe. I have another class scheduled this Friday I cant wait!!!

The kite that I have been using is a HQ 5.5 meter kite the instructors like that kite for beginners, they also said I would get bord with that kite by the end of the season.

I am thinking I will maye just go with what they recomend HQ Apex 4 5.5 , it is suppose to be a touring kite with little lift. I am not looking to go sky high at this point.

latter in the season they will teach jumping and tricks to more skilled kiters.

Some great deals on used Apex on this site. Used really is a cheaper way to go. Do that knowing you will want a second larger kite soon. Chances are you can buy 2 used for about the cost of 1 new.
Here are some but there are others on here.
