I originally added the Peter Lynn suspension axle to my standard PL Comp, and it made a world of difference to my kidneys, as I ride fairly frequently
in an ungraded dirt parking lot on Fiesta Island in Sandy Eggo. It also increased my ability to resist side forces without tipping, as the wheels
tend to bounce when encountering bumps, rather than digging in and flipping the buggy. The tension on the spring/shock combo is adjustable, and I set
'em for the terrain I'm riding; hard on the playa, loose and bouncy on the beach/parking areas where "cushy" is what I'm after. You can even tension
the downwind side tighter, for long reaches on ballistic days, to get a little more side-force resistance.
When I recently added the XL side rails, at the Corey-Lama's prodding, it did exactly as he'd told me it would.... it returned the turning radius and
other dynamics to the same "feel" as the original Comp buggy, and moved my seat position more forward, increasing stability at speed and in the
pucker-bumps. I would not ride without some kind of suspension, at this point, as it just hurts my old bones too much; like graduating to a
"soft-tail" after riding rigid-framed Harleys for years.
For gear questions, go to the source... windpowersports.com, and fire off a message to the Lama. He knows this gear better than anyone I've talked
to, and he spends a ridiculous amount of time considering, testing, and analyzing the "why" and the "wherefore" of every knot, buckle, bolt, and
spring. He'll talk to you about gear, even if you buy it elsewhere... but buy it from him, because we want him to eat, and then show up at Buggy
Town, where he belongs, doncha know.
There's my opinion... ask anybody in here what it's worth. On second thought, don't do that, hee hee!
