We have the option here to embed YouTube vids, but there are many of us here who prefer Vimeo for various and sundry reasons. Would it be possible to give us the ability/ option to embed with Vimeo, or even a universal embedding tool for any web based video.

Just curious, ...thoughts?

And on the topic of embedding video, there seems to be some sort of disconnect with embedded vids and apple devices using iOS7. Ever since the update, I can't see embedded video on my iPhone or iPad. Is that a forum issue?

Actually I'm not going to pretend to understand your question fully as I'm not a tech person but one solution if all else fails might be to post up a picture or snapshot from your video and make it clickable with a URL. It's not very convenient but it's better in my opinion than a text link.

Here's an example of a clickable picture link to a video on Vimeo I made a few years back.
It's not as good as the YouTube embed as it opens in a new window but still..

Wow thanks! I genuinely thought it wasn't much good at all as I never had a 'like' or anyone comment on it since I made it two years ago. I was just using it as an example because it was short and sweet but thanks. ...and the footage doesn't do it justice. The moon rising over the water was so much better standing there in the flesh. It was amazing to watch.

I like your solution, it's cool, but I'm asking about the embedded YouTube vids in the post where you simply use the "YouTube " button on the "post reply" field, enter the video ID and the BB code sets it all up,... Just curious why YouTube is the only option for embedding vids,... Why not Vimeo too?

The other stuff is just an iPad rant... Ignore it if you see fit.

But seriously, there's got to be an issue with ios7 and this forum's video embedding... It's annoying.
