Budget Depower Kite
It feels as if I'm spamming the forum
Anyway, any suggestions for a depower kite?
I'm most definitely moving to a depower, as getting multiple FB kites will be expensive! (About R4000 or $400 per 1)
Soo, a kite around about $350 might work, because I still have to pay import duty
If need be, I can spend my full $500, but I'd rather not
Thanks!

try looking for an apex 2 in the 7.5 size - a really great beginner depower and is very similiar to a fixed bridle in setup and such. Otherwise would
recommend an Arc but can be a little intimidating without someone who is familiar with them- good luck

Not a bad recommendation but it would be helpful to know your weight and use for the kite (board, buggy, snow, water) unless you already know the size
and style of kite (high or low A/R - foil or LEI or arc) you prefer.

Hey Devon, you shouldn't feel like you're spamming. If you have a question then ask away. That's why we're here, to help each other out.
I agree with abkayaS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K- post, about flying what you have to within an inch of it's life. And I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with it.
Flying any depower means wearing a harness, and being hooked in, is another level up.
If you fly alone then don't buy an LEI. I think they're brilliant with ATB but you really need a friend to help launch and land those things
especially if your experience is limited. I'd go for an arc or foil depower instead where it's easier to fly solo.
(edit) I'm not saying you don't have any friends. :embarrased:
Just LEI's can be tricky.

I have for sale a Cabrinha 12m Recon. Clean & crispy. Flown 4 or 5 times, almost like new.
Comes with bag, book, pump and a brand new matched, never used bar and line set,
CL, trims, etc, never used, in factory bag.
All the strut bladders hold air but the leading edge bladder needs to be replaced. Cost about $100 to replace.
Big thump last time out. Kite has been sitting in the garage for 4 years, needs a home.
With all this said I'm asking $365 plus shipping. Might consider a trade for a i-phone 4s or anything of similar value. Lets deal.
The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.

Helping folks like you who are out on your own is a big part of what folks on here like to do. We all understand your passion and we share it.
The advice to relax and take your time is good. You will find the kite you have coming will be a BIG step up. You will have lots of fun with it for a
while and don't need to rush. Rushing purchases can really be expensive in this sport but very good deals come up on older depower foils. Watch for
Ozone, HQ, Slingshot and maybe some other models. DON'T buy without checking online that the kite will suit your needs. If you hold out you should be
able to find a depower foil for $250 - 300 U.S. .
The advice to start hunting for a harness is also very good. You can " hook in " with the 3m kite you are getting and start getting used to flying
using your core of your body. It also allows you to rest your arms so you can fly longer. You can fly fixed bridle without a harness but using one
really adds to the game. You will HAVE to have a harness for depower so ...
Also the warning about LEI being a bother without an assistant is true. Especially since you sound like you have rough ground. I only suggested them
because I thought they may be plentiful near you.
Keep asking questions . We were all full of them at one point. If you haven't done so go to www.coastalwindsports.com and read over the tutorials. They are a great reference.
Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.
Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .

Sorry Blade, I didn't realise you suggested LEI's. I wouldn't have point blankly said no to them if I had known. I just thought they might be a bit
tricky to start out on especially on that rough surface and self launch.
