Anchor for frozen ground

When I have snow and ice, I use ice screws and/or my skis as an anchor.
When the ground is thawed. I use a stake.

Right now the ground is frozen but there is no coverage! Lame but i still want to fly. I don't want to wreck my ice screws, there must be a simple item I can use as an anchor.
The only thing I can think of is heavy items though, and those are no fun to carry!

What do you use when the ground is too hard for a stake?

hey - Canadian Tire baby! Get a t-screw used to hold down ice fishing huts. The web shows one with a loop handle but the ones in stock now are a t-handle - 2.99

Good idea, those things are terrible for ice but I bet they will go into the dirt pretty good.

yes for ice I have a few good ice screws but keep these as back up for some things but they can break up ice rather than cut it unless you can get in a crack - they'll be perfect for frozen ground

I drill a 1/2 inch hole with the cordless drill and insert a 2' carriage bolt, put a strap around it and a beener. I use the same thing on ice for base camp

Thanks markite! I'll have to get one of those t-screws. I have been lugging around a gallon juice jug full of sand with a rope on the handle or tying the rope off on a tree or goal post :(

The one in your photo is available in all Calgary area stores except the ones below

They may have a different product code that isn't showing up on the web - could have changed supplier so this design might be in stores (especially if they stock pop up ice fishing huts). This is what the packaging looks like and the screw here in Ontario - I like the looks of the one with a loop end.
A few guys have them with a piece of hose on the end and attached a small clip so it clips to back of harness - could double as an ice pick if needed.

Mark, I picked one up today. The web site has the wrong photo! - they are selling the T-type for $2.99 and use the same product code 78-8017-0 - no lazy C shape heads to be found
