Military Surplus 40m parasail, only $70

what could you do with a 40 sq meter brand new military surplus parafoil?

ONLY $70.

at 12' x 30', this could be interesting.

only 4 line attach points each corner?, could you use this as a lifting sled,

what would YOU do with it? Creative minds could brainstorm some cool ideas.

Haha. Put some spars in that and try to fly it. Doubt that would work, but it might be fun trying lol.

I think stitching on some bridles would be much better for a big foil like that. With that in mind it could definitely work.

Closely re-looking at the image, it looks like there ARE bridle loop attach points at each panel junction..........see the little white tabs?

Either way it would be sweet to see someone get it flying.

What do you think they used this for?..... for Supply 'lifts'( moves across open areas)...or drops?...

Uh..oh... I think this actually had a pilot.:o

Was this a fail or it worked? Did the pilot survive this monster?

I've got $10 paypal towards a group purchase along with other PKF's to have it shipped, bridle rigged, and flown by Big Kid.

I'll be sure to provide pics and video of said event.

who else is in?

And I'm guessing Jeff's Diesel PU truck is at least 6800 pounds, so we have a good starting anchor point.

heres some history on that chute
i got that on ebay many years years ago for 50$ and tried to make a quad line kite out of it. never got it to fly right.
i had to make 3 ft handles for it. then i tired to make a single line out of it. i got it to fly but snapped the brides lines.
i put it back in the box and a few after that i sent it to AJ and he made a tent out of it. that was about 10yrs ago.
its called a halo chute. high alt. low opening chute

I got the chute for 55 bucks, should have it in 3 to 5 business days.
if it wont fly, it will cover the truck or turn into a rv awning. :D

i used 500ft of 500lb test line for the bride and snapped them like nothing when i made it into a single line. but i did get
it to fly for about 5 minutes before they started snapping.
good luck:evil::D

my calculations tell me 500 is abit light, 800 is the bottom for my idea. 500 would need to almost double the number of bridle lines.
will be fun to play aound with:o

in the middle of moving. Its sitting in the trailer waiting to head off to IBB. As soon as we are settled in the new place that will be one of the 87 1st things on my list to do.
I was able to look at it before it got boxed up and it is loaded with bridle lines. Looked like they cut off the carabiners that hook to the parachute harness and left the lines hanging there.
My first thought was to connect them to a pair of handles and go for a buggy ride.
