Location change for IBB

I just heard confirmation from BLM that IBB will be the first kite buggy event ever held at "Area 3 East" on Ivanpah Dry Lake.

For those that have been coming to Ivanpah for years, this is about a mile past "Area 2 East" where kite buggy events have always been held in the past. The benefits are that this puts camp in front of the largest area of the dry lake. Personally, I find the surface nicer in this location as well. Now you won't have to venture so far from camp to get the longest runs possible with a SW wind that is typical in early April. You can easily get runs in that are more than 4 miles long if you want to from directly in front of camp.

See you on the playa!

It's one mile past area 2. Farther down.

It's butter smooth down there. Are there other venues sharing the Lake with Us?

what is the current locations like?
I don't feel like flipping the buggy over at 80 km/h on the first run out like last time. it was some rough terrain.

There are some slight bumps along the gas line but you can choose a smooth spot as you cross them. The surface is very nice and smooth almost totally. You can find rougher spots but you don't have to ride in them to have good runs.

You know that most people would back off a little over the rough patches instead of keeping the hammer down...

I do remember the rubble on the lakebed from the solar plant workers cutting across to get there faster.

They have been threatened with their jobs if they get caught doing that now. Most of their damage was due to a long time between floods. The surface became brittle and detached from the underlying sediment, so the surface started breaking up. I haven't seen that since a year ago.
