I think you'll find it's both easier and harder all at the same time.
You'll find it harder at first, when the board's not moving it'll be harder to ballance, you can't move your feet at all, even shifting weight from
your toes to heels won't be as firm as when standing on solid ground because of the give in the trucks. Be sure to keep your bindings nice and loose
at first, make sure you can basically jump off the board at will without your feet getting snagged in the bindings.
Once you get ok at moving though you'll be able to ride out the gusts, I find that when you get hit by a gust you can swerve downwind to lose the
tension on the lines and lose power a bit, then when the lulls come you can carve upwind a bit to keep tension and keep the kite flying through the
lull. I'm still working to perfect this on a board, but in the buggy I can find myself easily moving 10ft upwind or downwind to adjust for the wind.
The key on point 2 though would be speed, It's sort of like learning to ride a bike. Everyone wants to do it really slowly while underpowered to be
safe, but the bike is so much easier to ride with a bit of speed behind it.
If you want to get some practice in, try to fly without moving your feet, no stepping forwards or backwards, learn to lean back as the kite comes
through the middle of the window, then standing more upright when it's at the edges. Also try to get used to flying the kite by feel more, so you
don't have to watch it every second. It's sort of hard to watch where you're going if you have to babysit the kite.
