Update - We found our tent! Oregon Coast?

This is a big deal for us.....Kathy and I are all about the backpacking but set aside our gear "until the kids got a little older". Well, Anna's older and Julia is crazy about the outdoors so it's on! We've researched and bought our new "we won't all fit in the little one we used to use" tent and are packing it along with us for the trip to the coast.

That said, if any of you know any "Dude, you have GOT to camp here" spots along the coast let us know. This evening I'll be making a reservation at Fort Stevens for five or six nights. Looks like we're planning two nights (hotel or camping) in or around Newport around the 20th of June and then pointing north.

Any and all "must see and do" tips appreciated.

Be sure and take the kids to the old Battery ( Battery Russel I think ? ) station at Fort Stevens. I have seen families there using it to play laser tag. Tons of fun with all sorts of places to hide.

Battery Russel is cool to explore and imagine. There is a fort from Lewis and Clark worth seeing and the Maritime museum in Austoria isn't bad. There is a campground that you can walk under the highway right to the beach. It is south of Seaside but I don't remember the name. Someone here should be able to tell you. I keep looking at the REI kingdom 8 tent. What one did you get.

Our Plan "A" tent is the Sierra Designs Mirage 4...looks perfect for the family AND buggy camp...it's on it's way to us from a shop in Idaho. If it gets here and isn't 100% we have a solid backup in the North Face Kaiju 6 - that one is nearly perfect for us but needs just a couple modifications - which the in-house repair lady can make for us for the cost of the material.

While we were looking we found that Kelty is making some kitesurfer tents. OK, not REALLY for kitesurfers but they're pretty cool with inflatable poles. I see some inherent issues but the premise is pretty clever ; )

At Beverly Beach you go under the highway bridge and you are on the beach - it is just North of Newport.
I never stayed there but it is very popular.

Oswald West was the best camp ground ever on the coast - years ago you grabbed a wheelbarrow and rolled in your stuff to be right by the ocean in the cove but they closed it...

I like the Mountain Hardwear Satellite 6.
Hold up to anything mother nature, and Avlord have thrown
at it yet. Now have the setup time down to 5-10 minutes, 60 minutes if Jellis is helping! lol

LOL, yeah...that MH Satellite 6 is super badass! You just have to have a virtually unlimited budget to get one.
