New Kite

I just got an Ozone Frenzy 7.3 and I'm planning to try it this weekend. I am new to the sport; I have some experience with 4-line kites of much smaller size (revolutions). My objective is to get into kite surfing therefore I thought this would be a great trainer kite to up my skills on land before involving another element. Any thoughts on places to fly in southern California (LA)? Where do people buggy or land board in California?

Hi Jr,
That Frwenzy 7.3 is kind of big for some-one not familiar with the game.
I'd suggest a BIG grassy field and light winds to begin with.
We like to sail out on one of the numerous desert dry lakes in the Mojave, but that's not a good place for you to learn.
The playa is a very abrasive surface.
In the beginning, at least your kite will scrape the ground and/or crash many times as you begin to learn what's going on and how to control it.
If you are unlucky enough to get snatched off your feet, and it is likely, that abrasive surface is again not your friend.

So learn what you're doing on friendly ground first before venturing out.
