Beginner 3 or 4m kite
Hi, I am new to powerkiting, and am looking at getting any beginner 3 or 4 meter kite. I am not very knowledgeable about all of the brands available,
but anything from Ozone, PL, HQ or other well known brands should be fine. If anyone has one RTF for sale or advice for a beginner Please contact me.
Thanks!:D

Don't you think a 4m Twister would be too much for a newbie? I hear that the twisters generate a lot of lift and could potentially really hurt a
beginner. I have a possible offer to buy an original PL hornet 3m for 100 dollars, but it is the first edition so its older. I'm trying to stay well
below the 200 mark on this, and can't afford much more at the moment due to the outrageous costs of college :p. Thanks again!

Stick with the hornet and start in lower winds,5-8mph and get a skate helmet or something similar to keep from getting some lumps if you take a spill.
Once you get it, I can hook you up with some locals that will help you get that thing in the air and safely. I know you said you had a little
experience, but these guys will get you right the first time if not I will take a road trip!

Hornet is a great starter for sure. A lot of people start out with Twisters also. Yes it can be a handful, but some people like that. It does have a
good amount of lift yes, but its easier to tame than you think. They are both great kites and I don't think you'd go wrong either way.
I'm going to take a nap now

The hornet is good to start with because it's manageable in a wide range of winds. However, a 4m twister may serve as a better engine for landboard or
buggy that you can grow into. You would just need to make sure and learn with it in managable winds to begin with. It was my first power kite but I
did have a snapshot stunt foil and stunt kites previously.

Keep the twister size to a 3m if first kite. Even that can be a handful at times. The Hornet / Beamer are the better first choice as already
mentioned.

There is one hornet and 1 beamer in the for sale section right now. That's more than usual. They actually don't come up that often.
Whoops, I see the beamer sold.

not sure of your weight ?
& what type of kiting you'll be doing
land board? buggy? beach ? grass?
kite design is just fantastic these days !
safer, more wind range, better material...
i love kiting... but hate "buy to try" part of this sport...
like the other dude said...
if you know a kite group... or someone you can meet & see these in person... do that 1st
you'll be happier about where you spend your money...
good luck

i should have added... when i started .. i was about 190 lbs...
& got a 4.7m Flexifoil Rage... (mid aspect kite) & just used it every chance i got
1st static flights, butt dragging, then land board
but i'd need higher winds to keep going (depending how packed the sand was) on the 4.7m
found my sweet spot was on a large 8.5m Blade with 8-10mph... on a land board
i could cruise up & down beach for 2+ hrs.
& adjustable bridal helped keep kite up when wind got really low.
& i'd use 4.7 m when i couldn't hold down the 8.5m
go out & try out kites... talk to guys flying in your area... will help you a lot
