This topic got me thinking a few years back about re-coating kites so I thought I'd share on PKF another coating idea and my findings .

In the commercial roofing industry, we primarily use poly ether and poly urethane sealants. Both are moisture curing. we use silicone to a much lesser extent.

I didn't recognize the marine goop you used. Is that more of a butyl?

Coating ends up being styrene butadiene rubber when cured.


Styrene butadiene is added to specialty asphalt based roofing products for impact resistance. I think I have seen it in caulk tube form but haven't used it. I'll have to play around with that.
