Hey Vancouver! Way, WAY off topic (but wind related)

I'm wondering if a PKFer in the Vancouver area might be able / willing to help me out. There are two sailboats, one in Surrey, the other in Abbotsford that dad and I are considering coming out to take a look at. We'd love it if we could find someone that could go have a preliminary look for us to let us know if it was worth the drive.

You don't need to know anything about sailboats, I just want someone that can look at it and see if it's been kept clean or if it's all scuffed and dinged and dirty - is the inside a mess, is the bottom all scratched etc. No need to check sails and rigging or anything like that (but feel free to).

Post here or U2U / email or call me. And rest assured, we'll find a way to thank you for your time and troubles whether it's bottles or dinner or what have you. We would REALLY appreciate it. It'd suck to drive all that way and not haul a boat back.

UPDATE - A sailors life for we ; )

Just wanted to thank the PKF Family for the efforts and share the new member of the family with everyone. It turns out that we didn't get anyone down to have a sneak peek but the offer was extended. Just didn't need it by the end of it all. (And good thing too I think - the seller was super nice but loved to chat....might have been an extended sneak peek for whoever made their way out to check it out for us.

Anyway, she checked out with flying colours and in now de-salted and sitting in dry dock at dad's place waiting for it's introduction to some fresh water lake sailing. She'll be back on the coast one day.

We got lucky and sold our other boat when the only others for sale were a province away and nearly full retail. We were able to sell for a bit of a profit so the jump was a bit easier. Wouldn't have been able to do it otherwise.

BR - the beauty of the MacGregor (and some say the issue) is the water ballast and swing keel so it only needs 18 inches of water to float and can get under sail in about 36 inches so we'll be able to use it on almost all of the lakes over here. We'll be sticking to Gull, Sylvan and Pigeon most likely - each for their own perks. Gull for the shallow kids areas on the beaches, Pigeon because friends have a cabin there and Sylvan for the touristy stuff.

I'll also make sure there is a kite or two stowed at all times. : )
