Southern California traction kiting.

Well being on the west coast has been a great adventure. We are spending our last few days in San Diego with a friend. I was on line looking for a place I can fly my kites. But it turns out unless you are a kite surfer there is no place near here. There are a lot of people out on the water having a great time with kites and boards. I have no board or LEI type kites. So I'm out of luck. Plus I'm a bit unsure I want to try water at this point in my life.
OH well I guess I just need to sit and enjoy watching all the others having fun.

I had no issues flying static at Blacks Beach. It's a clothing optional beach right below the Glider Port. The glider port is worth seeing. They step off the edge, fly the ridge for as long as they want and then land right where they started.
With the winds being reliable up top, I expect them to also be consistent below ?

Warning: the trail down to the beach is challenging. The trail to the left ( South, South East? ) of the Glider Port is easiest.

Well, I'm not based in San Diego but in L.A. water is definitely king around here. We got El Mirage as well, but not much otherwise.

You could google search some parks near the beach or maybe even try to fly the boardwalk near mission or pacific beach with an NPW on bridles.

...or you could surf...should be a nice swell all week!

We went to the beach yesterday at Chrystal peer and played in the surf. Man HOOOOOJ waves crashing over our heads! Lots of folks out kite surfing. I'm not strong enough to to this I'm afraid or I would have been pestering them for lessons! They looked like they were having a blast.
ABKAYAK our friends took us out for dinner last night and we drove passes Stone Brewing. It was really weird being in that area. I was stationed there in the early 80's when I was in the navy. WAY DIFFERENT NOW!
CHEEZY I look forward to sitting down and telling you all about how wonder.... ERR awful SOBB was!!!:P
This has been a great trip but ready to get home and play with the grand kids.
