hey guys, as i have spent this summer rehabbing from my accident i discovered a new activity- flying remote control quads utilizing fpv (first person
view) not sure why the video quality is so low since it was filmed in hd but her are a few clips of my first reasonable runs

ps only the initial part me sitting down is speed up the rest is at actually flight speed
You were brave flying through your porch with not much room for maneuver. My friend has one of these things which he has help me with footage for my
next video. It cost him over 2k. He lost it in the sea along with his new gopro hero black 3 and never recovered it. Lost deep in the kelp.
His wife who was standing next to him on the beach said, after a pause, did you mean to do that. Sadly they split up not long after that.

Ouch! 2k down the drain just in a split second. Reason why I don't want to get a quadcopter. I always have the fear of losing it as opposed to a kite
which is attached with lines and you control. With the quadcopter, a strong gust and it could be swept away. Don't get me wrong, it looks like a lot
of fun but I would rather fly a power kite
Also great flight! What camera did you have onboard? If you don't want to invest in a gopro then maybe try getting a keychain camera, a few of my
buddies have quads and one of them uses a keychain camera he paid 40 bucks for and it records 1080p video :D Though your camera looks good enough,
just thought I would add that in, in case you're looking for a good gopro alternative and something that is light weight/low cost.
@kb- this is a little quad that I generally fly in the woods but have flown a couple times in 10 mph winds. Can be done but much more than 5 and it
gets to be more work, as for afraid most definitely over unretrievable ground but no long scared of crashing have had it catch a tree branch 30 feet
up and come crashing down only broke a prop. Super tough
@treble- I am running the fatshark attitude googles with circular antenna. But Andrew is running the boscam stuff with a homemade google screen from
a backup screen and fresnel lens- truthfully his is more comfortable and with a higher end screen would be as good a picture. From flying in our
planes same antennas the fat sharks provide better reception though then his rx so I get less static. Boscam is cheaper and more available though
soreally depends what you want to do quad bashing 5.8 is fine for distance I am looking at a 1.3 setup have gone 3/4 mile with 5.8 but lost radio
signal and got to watch the plane crash through the googles that sucked have since replace radio rx but not had a chance to retest. The 550 your
first quad- it's a big machine. If you haven't flown quads before get one of those symas on amazon to learn with first for $30. Crashing the 550 will
cost $$$$$

Sorry -all- for the high quality writing cooking brats at same time as typing
I have the Fatshark Attitude also. I have a hard time flying my DJI F550 because I can't see what's to my sides. I have a hard time just looking
forward. I need to setup head tracking on it so I can turn my head and have the camera turn also. It's weird to fly a multi-copter just looking
forward. I also get dizzy after a while using FPV. And , yes, you are brave with the porch flying..haha.. I still tend to crash when that close to
objects.
Treblehook bought the new frame to replace the current 550 he lost ...haha.. so he knows it's expensive already.
Van- i tried with the head tracking and maybe with a bigger quad in an open area it would be okay but i found it much harder then just having a fixed
lens facing forward. as for dizzy that i get- took me a few runs before it "stabilized" but i also started fpv on a plane which is way easier. that
is where i am getting ready to set up my head tracker. i am thinking of mounting the camera on the belly of the plane, protected by the landing gear
but would be nice to be able to just look around
