Kite line bleeding color?
Is it normal for kite lines to bleed color when wet? Had this happen in the past when I temporarily rolled up my lines and handles in the kite only
to find out the lines transferred color to the canopy. Grrrrrr. Wasn't very happy. Is this just a result of cheap lines? Do some do this and some
not? Any others experience this same thing?

I haven't, but I'm not sure why they color them. I had standard white spectra on my old blade and I liked those as well as any if not better.

I've had the Red lines bleed a little color on my fingers when winding but never stained the kite..

Q power line always bled colour when wet on new line. The heavy saturated colour on the orange and yellow bled when wrapping from either surfing or
wet from snow. It would be okay after a few washes but yes you wouldn't want to wrap new wet lines in tightly with white nylon. So it's usually not
cheap line - the tighter the weave and better the coatings etc they need to hit it with more color knowing not as much will not penetrate and stay.
It usually stops after a few wet sessions.

Angus,
The first time was with a brand new Viper S. and the second time was with a HQ Montana. Three days ago I was winding up some new Ozone lines and had
orange stains on my thumb and index finger. I actually REALLY like colored lines since most all my flying time is in the winter. I just have to keep
my wet lines away from the ripstop is all. Nothing a little soap and water can't wash out.

Would hate for that beautiful new 13m UL to get blemished. Curious to know how that beast has been treating you?

Same as Rif, I only get color on my fingers when winding. Is the kite possibly new or somewhat new? If the kite was wet, and you put the lines
inside/on the kite when rolling it there is a possibility the lines would bleed color.
Cheers, Ari

I know that Spectra/ dyneema is hydroscopic. - does not absorb water - so maybe they are not good at absorbing dyes.

My UL is my special baby, I'll do my best not to "blemish" her. I haven't had it out more than a couple static flights. Winter is when it will get a
lot of use, not much room to run around here in the summer. Getting very anxious to put some miles on her!
