Future kite advice
Hey all
Im looking into what kite would be good for me to get in the future.
First of al im 6.1 and about 108kgs(238lbs)
I am looking to get into kite atb so looking for one that would be good for that. Plan on starting by free riding then freestyle.
I am newish to power kiting and so far own and fly a PL vibe 1.3 and PL impulse 2.0 (plan on using this to learn boarding in light conditions)
Can fly both comfortably.
I live in NZ so access to a variety of kites in limited but I was looking at either a PL hornet (4-5m),PL twister (4-5.5m) or a ozone octane (4-5m)
If there is something better then let me know and ill look at sourcing it lol.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum! There are a lot of kiters in NZ. You need to hook up with John Holgate and his gang on the forum here. They fly just about every
kite ever made
Cross Kites Sonic 3, 5m
Ozone Flow 2, 3, 4, 5m
Ace II 4, 5m
NAPKA-US24
4, 5, 6m ATB landsurfer. Custom longboard deck

Welcome! The ones you listed are great, I would stick closer to 3-4m. PL Hornet is good. Nice and stable for practicing! Later you could try a PL
Twister. There are endless possibilities. Like 3shot mentioned, try and hook up with other fellow kiters and see if they could give you some kites to
try. Might be easier to decide that way. Also, you probably know all this but here is a helpful guide: http://www.coastalwindsports.com/101FirstFlight4LineHandles....

Thanks for the link and advice guys.
Been thinking about it. Going to learn on my 2m impulse then maybe move up to a 3-4 m hornet or octane. Once i have mastered that will then look at
buying a big twister to jump.
Also is there any benefits between handles or bars? I read up and people seem to say handles are best unless using a depower kite?
Will look to hook with with some kiwis maybe. Any reading this? haha
Thanks guys
Cheers, Nick

I'm on the other side of the pond, but if you look on the Extremekites website and look for posts by Plummet - he's in NZ and has a good idea what's
going on over there. There are a couple of meets through the year i think. There's also a few Melbourne based landboarders that I'm sure would be
glad to answer any questions.

Most folks who land board end up preferring depower kites. I would suggest you look for a nice 7 - 8m depower kite and get on with it. You have put
your time in on the 2m. A 7m depower is in many ways like a 4m Fixed bridle. You can jump with a 7m in stronger winds once you are it's master. 7/8m
is enough canopy to do so. 4m not so much. They are fast enough you can fly them in pretty low winds and create you own " apparent wind " . 7/8m will
serve you well as a snowkite.
YES, handles are best for fixed bridle but depower and a bar are better for stand up riding.
A helmet goes best with both !
I really like having my Hillbilly A$$ pads for my hips and butt but I am a skinny old guy.

Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.
