should the length of power bar lines be the same?!! from the bar to the point where they are connected to the steering and front 21m ( in my case) lines
And once you've sorted the bar end out, you should check for stretch in your bridle since you have a FS and it has quite the bridle system. Here is a
video about performing a "mixer test" on a flysurfer kite to find out if some of your bridle lines need adjusting, and if so, how to do that.
with a brand new lineset the bar leaders should be the same length as the black trimmer leader. once the lineset beds in though you'll most likely
notice stretch in the gray lines and shrinking of the red/green lines. now the kite will probably backstall and become annoying, so if you pull in
the trimmer till the backstall goes away, now you know how much to shorten the black leader line by loosening the knot and weaving it back thru.
shorten the leader, reset the trim strap and fly it again. the amount of backstall is nearly zero on a 'tuned' kite.
hope that makes sense , but measuring the bar like your picture shows isn't really the right approach.
should the length of power bar lines be the same?!! from the bar to the point where they are connected to the steering and front 21m ( in my case) lines
I have measured the main front lines and the steering lines... the main/front lines are about 3 cm longer than my steering ( red/blue lines) 21m vs.
21m+ about 3 cm... I have shorten the black trimmer leader by about 3cm.. versus the bar leaders.. so now overall length of all 4 lines should be the
same +/-
just trying to explain my kite line tuning....will test again on the weekend...
I recently acquired a used 15m Speed 3 and I am trying to learn as much as possible about tuning/optimizing. I have watched the Youtube video
mentioned above. For the most part it seems clear except that it is unclear about how the kite is layed out when doing the mixer test and measuring
lines.
I assume that the kite or lines must be fixed or anchored in a stationary position in order to check/compare the various line lengths. The video on
shows the guy pulling on lines.
I am surprised that Flysurfer does not have videos for this on their website. The FS manual that I have seen is a little confusing with the way it has
been translated.
Any thoughts or reference to other videos would be appreciated.
cheers
