Somewhat embarrasing landboard video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDwhGHGTzAA

I was trying out my homemade 3 line bar with 5 meter lines. Obviously still learning the landboard.

Wheres the helmet? you might find it easier to balance if you have a harness and have the kite pull you through the harness will prevent bad habits later. Oh did i mention wheres the helmet

I was at work and didn't have my helmet in the truck. I normally always wear it. Also, I hook in when I'm using my standard bar and 20 meter lines. Short lines is like having a tasmanian devil on the end of a string.

Wow, I might have to look into that! I could cruise along the path behind my kids when they go out for a bike ride. OK, maybe not........ :D

I enjoyed seeing that I'm not the only one that has a blooper now and then - esp. tripping over the board. Must have been a lot of wind is 2.4 m is pulling that good.

It was a 4 meter and the wind was blowing between 13 and 20. There happened to be a small area of pea gravel that allowed my front tires to dig in and stop my board. I liked your jibe video. It's nice to see other nasa fliers.

Thanks Phree, I have 2 bars, 1 with short lines and 1 with 20m lines. My preference is always long lines but I have been experimenting with short lines to make certain areas kite accessible that otherwise wouldn't be. This particular area, I probably could have used either. I generally keep my short line set up, board and kites in the truck for fast impromptu sessions in between appointments. If I'm out on the weekend I'm on my long lines with harness.

Good work Sean!... Start keeping your helmet in the truck too... I typically keep my whole quiver (and everything else, but my buggy) in my kitemobile... And the buggy rack only comes off to go through the car wash.

Good work Sean! I am still in awe at the raw grunt of these NS2. In the blooper, you actually captured what is a huge perk of the NASA. Can you imagine what would have happened to a regular foil when it slammed nose down into the ground at that speed?? BOOM!!!!

Okay Spencer, I have to come clean. I told a white lie. I had the camera mounted to the helmet on the tailgate. I need to start carrying a small tripod so I can wear my helmet.

Jason, yes it doesn't have any trouble taking nose down in gravel abuse :D and if you notice, I was able to relaunch it right away. There are times, though, when a bridle will wrap the tips and it can get ugly quickly with bridle tangles.

Also, it's worthy of noting that I could have gone much faster if I wanted. Since I was not wearing pads or helmet and because I'm still learning, I keep the kite high and steer it backwards frequently to maintain a snail pace.

Also Jason, you can do kite loops on 5 meter lines with them. I haven't tried that on a foil but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't like it. You do have to be ready and deliberate with loops on short lines though or you'll take a tumble.

I would stay away from the gravel. It has an tendency to slide out from under you as well as randomly stop you when you don't expect it.
