firebee or buster or something else?

hello,

i've been flying a two line ozone imp for about 6 months now, it's great fun and last weekend had a go with a 2.8m predator which was awesome. SO i want to upgrade to a quadline kite, preferably about 3m with the view to scudding/jumping etc HOWEVER my budget isn't too great so i'm probably looking at a PKD Buster or Rhombus Firebee - i've looked at loads of reviews for both and can't weigh up which one to go for. OR if anyone else can recommend anyother kite within the same price range that'd be very helpful.

Does anyone know of any kiting clubs arround skipton/burnley area?

thanks!!

karl.

Although I could not recomend either of these 2 kites over more expensive, better performing and higher quality models currently on the market, I can offer some advice for choosing a new kite...

Fly one and if you like it, buy it.

Often, your local full service kite store will do the right thing and allow you to test a couple models before making your purchase. That is, if they know you are not just ramdomly test driving.

Tell the sales person what you are expecting to do with the kite and ask for suggestions. Be aware that the more performance you require from a kite will certainly effect the price. It just goes to say that you should not expect to be out kite jumping with a cheap kite made by a toy manufacturer. Price = Performance.

Personally, I prefer JOJO and Ozone kites (although I fly Quadrifoil - out of production). Check the LINKS page for more info on these kites.

I hated the buster... the bridle was ridiculously thick and cheap. I've heard they've improved it, but I wouldn't recommend it. Save your money and buy a kite you'll like... a samurai/little devil, or bullet. You get what you pay for.
