Pansh Ace 5m

Reading mixed reviews over the Pansh Ace 5m anyone got any ideas about this kite? Power? Control? My mate has bought one to join me in my quest! Will be original bridle but putting dyneema lines and flexifoil handles on it.

The Pansh Ace can be tuned to fly decent, just be very cautious when flying it. Many have given it the nickname "the widow maker" and for good reason. I myself was lofted 12ft in the air on a normal flying day by a small unexpected gust then dropped like a rock only to land flat footed and not be able to kite for almost three months. Not trying to scare you or anyone else from buying one, you just have to be very careful when flying it and do not fly it in gusty winds, you will likely pay for it.

Definitely not a beginner kite to learn on.

Pansh's in general and probably the Ace in particular are not very beginner friendly. I would say most are Intermediate to Advanced for the mere fact that you need that skill level or experience to "read" what the kite is doing and adjust either it our your technique accordingly. I have the 1m, 5m and 12m and they are all finicky fliers but pull well once you have them tuned and flying.

I really liked my 5m Pansh Ace once I replaced the mismatched line set and got it tuned. It was the 1st size they put out ( mine was a $99 special ) . I think they copied the 4.9 blade and then scaled the rest of the Ace line off of that ? Smaller ones seemed too fast and punchy to me and larger ones seemed slow? The 5m however flew just right. The canopy held up OK accept that 3 or 4 white panels were from a different lot and yellowed. The bridle got a little hairy but it wasn't too bad. I think they improved the bridle lines?

It is trying to be a 4.9m Blade so is pretty advanced and I wouldn't have wanted to learn on it. I never really learned how to jump proper with it. I was never spanked but couldn't redirect it proper when trying to jump. I almost always overflew the kite, lost tension in the lines and dropped as the kite wadded up.

If your friend respects the kite and avoids too strong of winds until he has mastered it he will catch up to the skill level required to handle it. Just sending this kite through the window like most beginners do will be TRULY dangerous with in strong winds. DON'T LET HIM DO IT ! Make him pack up as soon as the kite is controlling him. He needs to be the one in control of this kite.

Also, there is probably a weeks worth of reading on the forum about it available through the search function. It was certainly copied from a Blade IV, which was quite apparent one time when we had each set up beside one another. They missed a few of the finer points though so appearance and shape are where the comparisons stop.

Whenever I used to fly with Knkmanthey, he always had his 5m Ace and I always though "man he needs some kite Viagra cuz he just can't keep that thing up..."

Always really finicky IMO just seemed like a kite that needed too much attention. I flew it once or twice and didn't particularly care for it.

This weekend I static flew a used 5m Pansh Sprint kite I just picked up, and it was well behaved. I was going to play with the bridle adjusters, but no need, it flew fine.

I also took along an old 7m Pansh Ace kite that has been in a box for years. I got it used, and remember giving up on it before I was lifted, dragged, and/or hurt. Well, my memory was correct, flew like

The seller of the Ace, had told me after sending it, that they really never used it and got it from somebody else. It was used and dirty but in good condition.

I've read the bridles can stretch. It will kind of fly, between 1 and 2 O'clock, and overflys the window everywhere else. Tough to slow the kite down or control it much with handles while trying to hang onto such strong pulling power.

Lot's of old info on the web for this kite. Several videos of people using it for jumping/dragging. Not my idea of fun.

Some tried tuning:

Some tried depower setups:

Ideas what to do with it :dunno:

Pete,

I'm glad to hear that the sprint flew reasonably well for you. Take care and talk to you later.

Hi Eric, I was pleasantly surprised the 5m sprint flew just fine. Look forward to putting it in motion.
Hoped to find some more ideas for the 7m ace, i.e. worth tinkering with or not...
