Non kiting kiting injury

Gutted....

Somehow managed to tear my MCL (inside knee ligament) today. I was only unwinding my lines! Somehow managed to put weight on my leg awkwardly while putting the bar down.

Of course my (non kiting) wife doesn't believe I wasn't kiting at the time, and is now back on the "I told you those kites were dangerous you have to sell them now".

Sick as a dog, looking at a couple of months out.

That's a bummer of a freak accident. Was the knee giving you any trouble at all before this? In other words do you think you could have partially injured another time?

I dislocated it about 20 years ago and have tweaked the MCL a couple of times before. But actually doing something! (snowboarding, surfing, drinking)

Never expected to do it walking down a nice grass field. And it hasn't bothered me for years, just assumed it was back to full strength.

Getting old really sucks...

That really sucks!
Any way you can work it into the act?
Hopefully it'll heal up soon.

rob - that picture you posted was me about 2 years ago -windsurfing accident. Its all pain, no gain situation for sure. Good luck with your recovery. Mine has recovered fully and I am now not even sure which knee it was.

BTW - sometime stuff just happens due to bad luck. A friend of mine was bending over vacuuming his car. When he got up a vein burst in his head and he almost died. It was never suggested he refrain from ever vacuuming his car again.....

That is mad, hope you're back in action soon. If you need a lift out of the car and in to your buggy I'm down your way next week. :D But I doubt you'll get a pass for awhile :-(

I'm eyeing up a titanium knee brace, pricey at around £500 though. That's the price of my next kite!!!!!!!

Look at motocross knee braces, very form fitting and hinged just right.

also.

this Techni-ice is AWESOME to freeze and wrap joints like a quilted pillow of chilling the ache bliss.

great product.

yes the MCL and ACL are terrible things to blow out, both my knees know.

Thanks chaps. Gotta be on my feet by Thursday as I've got tickets for Noel Gallagher in Paris 😁 Wonder if I can play the broken leg card and swing a seat by the stage!
