buggy part

I never saw one of these before and now have found some info and pictures on them....question is this....Can the ID of this part fit over the rear axle of a flexifoil buggy. I'm assuming this part was only intended to fit over a PL axle which I believe was smaller in diameter when this part was available.

I am not sure what this is. It looks to me like some sort of tandem hardware, or some sort of camera mount, or a backrest that is missing some other parts to actually be comfortable.

it's a doubler to run two wheels on the back - they were for earlier models but i can't find info on sizes. They are actually still available as a clear out item from Vlieger Op from old/discontinued stock.

this part slipped over the rear axle of a peter lynn buggy then you were able to bolt on an extra set of wheels...meaning you were now running 4 tires in the rear that could pivot in the center....the part that slides over the axle was held in place by your original 12mm bolt...hope i explained it well enough...I am just wondering if someone who actually has seen or used one of these could say if it would fit over my flexifoil axle that is also running a 12mm bolt....Just would be fun for show..not really looking to do speed runs with it on.

The ST buggy (which is the older style buggy) uses the 12mm axle bolts and the axle is listed as 31.8 mm dia - it should fit over that

Not sure if Dave used that doubler or made something of his own for the chopper buggy

i sold those parts to dave for his chopper buggy many years ago.
i had them on my old pl comp buggy. i didnt like them.
the forward back wheel would just drag around when trying to make a tight turn to the point
of it coming off the ground and you would lose alot of speed. if you made a wide turn they work ok
just like an 18 wheeler truck making a tight turn.

Plus the forward wheel would always hit my arm giving me road rash

Makes perfect sense. I have seen them before, but never thought it looked super practical. They are eye-catching though.

Was only a visual thing for me...part is on ebay for next to nothing but.....I thought of my arm hitting the tire and then said "why" bother...Lets just keep it at 50 mph with smiles and screaming if I want people to notice me....

The arm hitting the wheel is an issue. The fact that turning is much slower with the tandem rear wheels was my major concern.

I have a set of those that fits on a P/L Comp heavy duty axle. Used them maybe 2 times and put them away. Still sitting on my bench.
