Thanks guys, you have all been great friends over the years, and given me great support, but its time for me to move on now.

My Buggying Days are now over

Ah man, sorry to hear you are giving it up. Having not been in the sport long I did use your site a lot to read all about this buggying lark. And now I finally just got hold of one of your awesome buggys.

Gutted I never got to meet you in person, I did make it to Mablethorpe this year for my first proper beach experience, though I didn't have the Superbug II at the time, just a flexi. I was with Robocourier, he bought "The Patriot" from you a while ago. He let me have a ride in it, and from that moment I told myself then I'd own myself a PTW ride one day.

And lo and behold the SBII came up for sale, and now it's in my garage! Robocourier made the comment "this is Popeye country" when we made the long drive up to Mablethorpe. I'd have given you a big handshake if I had bumped into you!

Enjoy the biking. And thanks for your massive contribution to the kiting world.

Cheers,

Paul

Never got to meet you in person, but had many of FB conversations with you and you even gave me some great numbers for getting my angles right on my down tube on my first buggy build. Built it 6 years ago and it's still going strong.

Thanks for everything that you have done for the sport, the friendships you have made, and the knowledge that you have shared with so many. You are one of the best out there in my book, and an inspiration to so many. You may leave for now, but I know it will always be inside of you,

Farewell and best wishes in your next adventure.
Again thanks!

You had me on the edge of my chair reading your story Carl. I really thought you had made it into the 100kph club.
It shows great character that you started laughing out loud. Funny story but I hope not the end.

Please Carl, we must meet up when the east wind blows and Mablethorpe calls.
The dominator will be waiting for you!!!. Me, you and Old_Guy. Let me know when.:thumbup:

*******************************************************************************

Some years ago I drove up to Lincon to meet with Popeyethewelder in the hope of fitting into his Dominator 4 buggy.

Upon arriving at his home I climbed out of my car and immediately knelt down on his driveway ready to initiate a full, arms out stretched 'I'm not worthy' style homage before he shouted over to me. Tom No! :D

Here was the man himself in the flesh welcoming me into his home.
My physical body remained sat in the car while the floating 'out of body' part of me drank tea with him in his kitchen.

Throughout I kept thinking, I'm actually in Popeyethewelders house! I'm actually in his house and he is standing in front of me and his mouth is opening and closing and words are emanating from it. If only the other guys could see me now. Wow!

I must have answered and nodded my head in all the correct places because we then went through a magical door that led into the inner sanctum he called the garage and in that garage was a beautiful shiny buggy. Stay calm!

I didn't even have all the money! He allowed me to pay in installments!! Carl I love you. I'm proud to have met with you and I'm proud and privileged to continue riding the Dom.

In some distant future when the rest of us have melted away into obscurity, buggy riders of the future will look back at the early history of kite buggying and discover one name standing out high above the rest, and we can say, we were there.
