Silly Kite Buggy Trailer crash at Ivanpah last Thanksgiving
Yea, I know this is the IBX forum. But, it has been 4 months since anyone posted here!
I am driving out on Friday, November 20th and meeting the wife in Vegas on Tuesday, November 24th.
I will be bringing two buggies (Libre & Flexifoil) and three trailers (Kite Kooler Karriers) to pull behind the buggies.
I have time off work and need to test run all the stuff to make sure it works.
With that said, anyone want to join me out there? I am mildly worried about being out there all by myself. It would be good to have someone to chase
and entertain while I try to make my own parade of carts.
I plan on flying/riding all day Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Let me know if you might be interested in making a mini IBX!

The Kite Kooler Karrier (did not realize it was three K until I wrote this...oops...gotta change the name now!) is a two wheel buggy (Baby Jogger to
be exact) that I connect to the back of the buggy.
It carries my cooler. Gotta have cold water out the there!
Super-cool. I took a few pics this past weekend. I guess this post is useless without a pic. I will try to get it tomorrow since I downloaded to
work.
The key to any trailer is the hitch. You do not EVER want the hitch to let go.
Picture tomorrow!

Thanks Bob. And thanks again for helping me store buggy at your house 2 yrs ago!
I will connect with you once the time gets closer.

Fall can be the other good wind season. There can be days of calm but winds are generally good in the fall. They tend to come from the NW as things
cool off.

Timing is everything! I'm going to be in Las Vegas for a conference November 12 - 17. I was planning on driving down from Utah for this and bring my
buggy and kite gear. Would anybody be interested in getting out on Ivanpah November 16th and 17th? Dang! One week too soon. Do you think the
American Academy of Ophthalmology will be willing to push back their annual meeting one week to line these trips up better?
I plan to fly all day Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
It would be GREAT if any of the locals would be able to join me. I will send Beemer Bob and UtahTami a message. I hope to see you both.
Anyone else THINK they will make it out for any part of this time? Let me know and I will watch for you.
Paul.

I'm in Vegas too. I was planning on heading to the Playa this afternoon as well as Monday and Tuesday afternoon. There is a high wind alert both today
and tomorrow.
Great time to be there or suicidal time? Smallest kites in my quiver are a 4m Peak-2 DP and a 2.5m NS3 FB.
Paul - hope you have a great time! I am headed to el Mirage Nov 26 - 30. If things work out I will try to stop by but the forecast (subject to a dozen
changes) isn't promising. Let me guess, you'll be the Rage flying high.
I plan to fly all day Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Paul.
Paul, as you will likely have read by now I was out yesterday. Had a great time. The rain came through at the end but was a blast right up to that
point. Actually, packing up as the place shut down was pretty fun in its own right in sort of an extreme sort of way. I suspect the wind got up well
over 40 mph for a short spell there as the front end of the storm got to us. I've got Lord only knows what sort of mess in the well of my front
passenger seat as I had a 3m LongStar on the ground when I pulled up the tent pegs and had to throw everything into the SUV pretty much as fast as I
could and it ended up there. Will deal with her later today.
I don't know how much rain fell and what that does to the Playa in the hours afterwards. Would 18 hours of no rain but lots of wind dry it out or is
today a bust? I could come to Primm this afternoon and Tuesday afternoon, or only Tuesday afternoon if today is a bust. You're our eyes on the ground
out there today Paul, what do you think?
Got to enjoy all Ivanpah has to offer yesterday with JeeperJoey. It's been awhile since I got to ride. Wind blew in the teens to lower 20s all day.
Logged 64 miles. Just the perfect kind of day to get confidence back after a layover. I'll be ready to go fast next chance I get. Playa is butter
smooth south of IBX camp location. Tires get quiet on it. Reminded me of El Mirage. JJ it was great to share the playa with you yesterday. Stoked!

Sorry but I could really feel the ride and as frustrating as it may have been for you it was it was fun to see you taking it so well and going back to
collect everything - the ice got less and less, the dust and dirt got more and more and things flew further each time but the cooler kept on going - I
think opening a shaken beer would have crowned the video nicely.
I hope you get it sorted - nice looking trailer. You may well just incorporate something between that back rest and rear axle as a smaller storage
area - put some cargo net back there and strap down a smaller cooler.

I am an experienced flier but had a bad crash (Out Of Buggy) at 46 mph a few years ago. My strop kept getting wedged between the pulley and the bar
causing it to lock and stick in place. Three times it threw me out of the buggy.
I have not used a strop since.
My technique of turning the kite has evolved to the point where I really struggled to turn the kite as sharply as I do when not stropped.
The result was that I slammed them into the ground several times.
Even after 5 days and 140 miles, I still had troubles turning the kite as sharp as when I am not stropped. This is not technique, but rather
understanding that I will be restricted when stropped.
Glad you all liked the video. I was laughing the entire time. Good fun. And, I built three trailers...perhaps I can donate one at IBX this year!

Great video! Too funny. I know it wasn't funny at the time, but the spirit of the video was spot on. Getting a look inside the cooler after flip 2
was something I could have done without. I thought I was looking into the kitchen of a Waffle House; splattered and battered! :D
