Lines length

Hello Guys,
Just a quick question for you... what is the length of the lines you are using? And for what activity (lets say for example... freestyle, riding on the beach, speed competition, etc)?

Thanks and regards
Ramiro

Mood: Cruising...

I normally use around 20m. Occasionally 25m for cruising on the beach. If the wind is light and I've got the room, I'll sometimes use a 30m set of lines - one of the last times I had the 30m lines out, I was flying a 6.5m method and bigfoot buggy with a friend with same kite, similar buggy but 20m lines - was able to work the kite through the larger window and generate more power and speed than the 20m lines.

I ride whatever line length is attached to the bar when it was manufactured, and am I right in guessing that's of no help to you whatsoever ?

Mood: Is he using the same wind we are?

With one exception I separate the lines and kites so I keep three sets of lines in my quiver: 20m, 25m, and 30m built out of the virtually indestructible 600# yellow/ orange/ white "water" line.
Most of my flying is "scribbling" [look at your GPS track after a day in a park :)] around on city parks with low to medium interference from neighboring trees and structures.
I am afflicted with light turbulent wind so I tend to be flying BIG kites [more than 5 FB over 8m area that get flown regularly] and they go on the 30m lines most of the time for the wind window and wing turning area.
3m -7m kites usually fly on the 25m lines unless I am flying in gnat farts then they go on the 30m as well.
3m and under usually go on the 20m to cut down the line drag from the heavy line that I like to fly or I will break out an "old" set of Pansh or PL lines for the lighter weight.

Hope that helps
