We've released the new version of our app Windy for iOS. And i decide to write here about it because facebook doesn't work for getting feedback from
users.
The app is like WindGuru (we use the same datasources), but:
It's adopted for mobile
We think it's beautiful and our designer is working on making it even better
It uses the new styles of forecast visualisation for next ten days.
We have big plans for it but we need your feedback.
You can set units in Menu (Upper-Left Corner) -> Settings.
We still didn't decide about iPad - how many users are using it. Now you can install it on iPad using filter iPhone - it will work, but look
#@%$#!ty(
Anyway - you've added a vote for iPad and once we will add priority to this task
It's an interesting idea that's for sure. As a buggy rider, I tend to want to know exactly what wind direction and strength over a period of several
hours (which coincides with the low tide). My local Bureau of Meteorology wind forecasts are fair for 2 or 3 days out but I find longer forecasts
tend to change radically as the day approaches.
Yeah, we are thinknig to create 3-days Riding Rose too. I think we will have 3 options - 10-days, 3-days, and 3 hours - like compass (we had this
version before, and users still want it - i don't understand why).
3-days - for local riders
10-days - for trips
Compass - i don't know for whom
Yeah, we are thinknig to create 3-days Riding Rose too.
Actually, I think that's a very good idea as the results of a 10 day rose would be skewed by the last 5 or 6 days of the forecast which is usually not
very accurate.
I just left you guys feedback through the app. I love it, but had a couple of observations to share with you guys. so take it or leave it:
I have always preferred an hour by hour forecast personally, and typically use WindAlert for that. It may not be necessary, but it is a personal
preference. Also, in the survey questions, there was no option for kite buggying or any other land based kite sports, or even land sailors... just
sayin'.
I REALLY like the app for sure, especially the incorporated wind-map. I will include it in the arsenal of forecasting apps I use for my kiting.
It still is not fully functional, but same cool as iOS. Check it. And send us bug report or feedback. It works quite good and have cool wind-rose
animation.
It still hard to find it in Google Play, so here's the link:
