Three Videos by Paul Glasspoole at IBX 2016 - OBE added 05/02/16
I took over 80 videos while at IBX 2016. After spending a month going through them all, I have compiled my favorite portions into three videos.
The first I have titled "The life of a Kite Buggy helmet". It has a lonely life when left in the buggy seat. However, the view is spectacular.
Next is what I would classify as the REASON we all go to IBX. To fly our kites, yes. However, it is a LOT more fun to be with the people. This
video contains all my favorite rides with my friends.
]
The third video is my showing off by going fast. But, there are a few mistakes included so that I can keep my humble reputation.
The fourth is of the unfortunate Out Of Buggy Experience (OBE) of my friend John. Looking at the video, I can see that I was a good friend...First,
save the kite,. Second, make sure he is ok.
I hope you enjoy watching as much as I had making the videos!

First and foremost, your videos brought back such fond memories! As fun as it is to buggy on the playa it is made 1000 fold better with friends.
I was cracking up that you muted out the sound in the tangles footage. I imagine a few choice words were spoken!
How to embed the video: 1) when in YouTube copy the link to the video; 2) in your PKF thread put your cursor where you want the video to go and then
click on the little YouTube button right above the text box; 3) a pop-up box will ask you for the link; 4) paste in what you copied back in YouTube;
5) erase the text that precedes the forward slash leaving only the number and letter unique identifier; 6) press ok to close the box.
In this example, this is what copying the link saved in YouTube: "http://youtu.be/57f-WDB2biQ". You want to erase the stuff before the "5" in the
PKF box asking for the link.
I have a fourth where a friend was ejected from his buggy. But I want his permission before sharing it here. Stay tuned...perhaps there will be a
fourth posting!
I heard about this OBE. Amazing that you got it on film. Thank goodness for his "plastic courage" or it could have gone worse for him!
Those were fun vids to watch - some quick kite and buggy skills steering in and around and chasing and untangling. Anyone that has been to ride the
playa can relive every second as many moments feel so familiar - great!

I had to go rinse off the dust after watching those. Mark is right. All that and more happens to everyone out there. And sometimes the tangles and
twists don't t shake out. On your fast run you were doing everything right and doing the same things that with the right wind and kite could take you
much faster. You've been in the upper 40s now so 50 won't feel that much different. All my PBs were in 2-5 mph increments. Doing it that way, you are
never far out of your comfort zone and familiarity.

I am very proud of these videos since they do, in my opinion, show what a cool event the IBX guys put on so we can all do exactly what I show in the
videos.
They open the gate to the playground and we play all day and night!

I am super impressed by your top speeds. What kind of buggy were you in? Looked like a pretty light buggy for such high speeds?
As Bob said, good videos for seeing how to do things right! Not just how you scrubbed off and make speed. The way you let go, caught up to and reset
your kite was text book! Who needs kite killers when you can just chase your kite down! :cool2:
Also a good example of how in one trip ( heck one day ) to Ivanpah you can be outrunning dust devils one minute then standing like a bunch of Meer
cat's looking for signs of wind the next.

Dang, who is that guy? Could be any of us out there!
I figure it was probably at the bottom of the flooded lake a few days after I left
Ivanpah.
My name and number was on the camera and housing.
If you found one, lemme know, please?
