I have an old Buster kite - lines are all tangelled. Cannot undo for the life of me. Anybody either fix (i.e., put on new lines) or know of somebody or someplace who can? Thanks,

I think you are saying that you BRIDLE lines are knotted up? The lines that stay with the kite and create it's shape.

Or are your bridle lines AND fly lines in a mess?

John at powerzone.com does good repairs and know his bridles. Fixmykite and Airtime are a couple of other choices.

Bigkid on this forum is the Rep' for PKD . He may be helpful? He is actually looking to buy old PKD's so may be able to work out a trade?

I remember a few painful evenings of sorting out. Maybe give another try. One thing at a time. Bridle or lines. It can take a few hours if it's bad enough.

+1.. That's the secret.. Get one line out first and move on..Keep it loose and take your time..

Keep it loose and pull out loops.

Pick apart tight knots with warm water , stitch pickers and tweezers. If you are working the bridle hang the kite so it has some shape / area. If you are working the lines, stake one end. At some point try and remove 1 line at a time.

This kind of job is mostly all labour and patients. Time is money. To farm it out could get very expensive!

Learning line management is actually part of Kite Zen. Getting up close and personal with your lines / bridle helps you and your kite bond.

Still ...... Is it the bridle or fly lines or both? Is it possible you have tossed your fly lines into your bridle?
NEVER ALLOW YOUR FLY LINE TO GET IN CONTACT WITH YOUR BRIDLE. Even if you are packing up a mess.

If your having trouble seeing those knots like I do, try using a magnifying glass or jewelers loop to see which way the knots are oriented and follow Bladerunner's post

If there is any silver lining that I've found when it comes to untangling bridles is how suddenly you can go from it looking as if you have hours of work ahead of you, only to suddenly find it pretty much completely untangled. At least Iv'e found the bridle is easier than I've thought it would be to untangle and I've had some real disasters.

Guess what I'm saying is stick to it!

This one at the end of the video took me an hour and a half to untangle after I had not used a safety leash and the flag out line slipped off my finger.:D
I just bundled it up and used another kite for the rest of the day. Later I took it back to some shade and out of the wind and laid the kite out as best I could. Did have a cool beverage handy. I chipped away fluffing the bundle about and drawing the loops apart taking care not to put any more pressure on any of the tighter clumps. The bridles on this Ozone R1 are really small in diameter and I struggled even with my reading glasses on. A few days later it got me to 93.1 kmh in 21 knots of wind.
